I'm pretty sure for whatever reason, Team Victoria are arguing that Siddle is a better bowler because he's taken more wickets in his career. That's a silly thing to judge it on as if you extrapolate Hazlewood's wickets/innings to Siddle's number of innings played, it's well in front. I know the defence to this will be "HAZLEWOOD PLAYED WI" but Siddle has played shit teams in his career too.

Team Everyone-Else on the other hand is arguing that Hazlewood is a better option for us right now, which I agree with but they're obviously both playing now so the entire argument is useless.
No the knock on Hazelwood is when up against decent opposition (England away & NZ at home) he has so far failed just as much as he has done well. Dont think its wrong at all to not be right on the bandwagon of a guy with good bowling efforts against the West Indies & India (on Australian) soil thats all. Give him the next 12-18 months to prove himself a bit more in some tougher series in varied conditions before coming out and saying he is our #1 bowler.

It would be like saying a guy like Jesse Lingard being Man U's most important midfielder over a guy like Mata just on how he has gone in the last couple of games. Or Dele Alli for us over a Eriksen.

Is Siddle a Mata or Eriksen though?

Yeah I'd say a guy with that sort of track record is at that level. 200+ wickets, under 30 average, under 3 an over. Not many have a record like that.

Surprise surprise we're about to make an absolute mess of chasing 180

Sorry but no, just no. Terrible terrible analogy. You're overrate siddle big time here

And Hazelwood wasnt as bad as you think he was in England. Probably only bowled poorly for half the games, but of course thats what everyone remembers.

Perhaps Eriksen is a bit far of a stretch but more a Dembele. A solid contributor for a lengthy period of time vs up and coming youngster. I know who I pick every single time

We'd get them in a spot of bother (due to his and others good work) and he (and Starc too) were too loose and England hit their way out of trouble against the crap they served up. Anderson & Broad's best were just as good as our best but they just didnt offer up the crap that we did and thats why they won the series. Our batsmen weren't given a sniff when we were in trouble but the Poms were and rightly capitalised

You're just forgetting every time Siddle has done that. And its plenty of times

Of course it has happened. The blokes had an 8 year career. But it's not with the regularity that Hazlewood has produced when tested in the series' against NZ & England, which was more often than not when you look at it.

Once again I disagree about the regularity of Siddle being trash. You're overrating him. Im done with this.

You think he has been trash more often than not through his 8 year career?

Wouldn't have thought he'd get to 200 wickets and 60 tests if that was the case. But hey the just give out baggy greens these days I guess

Let's just all agree he gave us the best moment in Ashes cricket. Broad of all people :)

The guy with 65 wickets (24 against a State A side) to his name is better than a guy with 200+ wickets. Doesn't take much to be a legend these days it seems
Where did anyone call him a legend? No need to sensationalize things.

The point is that Hazlewood is a superior bowler. You can try and argue several ways around it but it's just fact. It does not make him a legend nor does it mean he doesn't have flaws.

You mean the series he took 13 wickets in? More wickets than against the Windies in the same summer.

Come on.

He was poor in two of the three tests in my opinion. Like I said more often than not he doesn't reach the heights that are clearly great.

For me I'd rather a bit of consistency at the expense of those heights. Especially when Starc at times is like that and we are without a clear 3rd bowler. Just think we often have 2 quicks who let the pressure off sides when we have a chance to get on top and he is 1 of them
