National as well. Asia Cup final against strong Korean team his back four was Davidson, Sainsbury, Spiranovic, Franjic

3-2 loss to Dutch who were led by Van Persie, Robben and Sneijder had Wilkinson and McGowan back four. No name defences. Attack was form of defence.
And that worked incredibly well. 9 goals conceded at the WC in 3 games. Also wouldn't have said that Korean team was strong going forward, they scored 8 goals in the tournament and two of them were in ET against Uzbekistan.

So what are you basing your opinion on? One season in Japan where fixture was condensed and they had a huge injury list?

Trigger warning moomba but this adds some needed context.

12 trophies, a brilliant squad and qualification for the champions league for 10 successive years (earned us around €700m in UEFA broadcasting distribution in that time plus match day revenue from an extra 40 or so home matches). And that's before you look at the increased revenue through domestic prize money, increased sponsorships etc from being at the top for a decade.

Money well spent I reckon.

We're a net spend club now, and clearly can't keep up with the big spending clubs any more. But great memories.

Your club is a well oiled machine.

No doubt you are getting better value for money than clubs like United etc who throw similar money around.

Tables like that just need a bit more context IMO

1 billion spent and no Champions League trophy. Terrible return. The sportswashers in Abu Dhabi will be most displeased.

Not this summer
While I think you've had a great summer you need some silverware with it imo to be a success.

City's summer has been pretty shit to me, way overpaid for Grealish, failed to get a CF and unable to move a few players who wanted to leave.

There's still a fair bit of talent there though, United needed more depth
Think they will go big next year for Kane (City)

No CF is the only negative for me. The proof of the pudding will be what we do next year. For me I'd rather wait a year and try for Haaland than any of the options we had on the plate for this summer.

Grealish is a good addition to the squad, and looks like he fits in to the XI very well.

And while we were prepared to let Bernardo, Jesus and Laporte go, they've started the season off very well, don't seem to be sulking. We're a better chance of silverware with them in the squad than not.

If one of them leave we're going to win the net spend w***ers league, and I'll have the memories of people bitching about us spending too much, and bitching about us not spending enough on Kane and Ronaldo to keep me warm during the winter months.

Genuinely lol'd at this.
