Watching Gareth Bale make his first starting appearance for LAFC vs Austin.

The MLS really is growing from strength to strength every year, Euro Snobs be damned, their league and US soccer in general is what we should be modeling the A League and the code in general in Australia

It's a very watchable and entertaining league.

This first half of Austin FC v LAFC has been outstanding. It's had everything, especially an absolute peach of a free kick goal from Diego Fagundez

Home crowd making plenty of noise.

We call it soccer up this way (the local league and teams). It's not that uncommon in Australia or USA.
Yeah I know mate. They call it soccer here in Australia and in America. I just think it's stupid haha.

Like the Americans call NFL football when only one blokes kicks the ball every once and a while and it's like an egg, not really a ball. That sports should be called Throwegg. :D

Whereas football... you can only use your feet etc and heavily use your feet to do anything in the game, hence foot. Then it's a normal round ball, hence ball.

Football. :)

Soccer.... lol.

Football in America is better than the A-League but still pretty shite.
Is this the rare double snobbery.

Football snobbery at the yank plebs who call it soccah! and euro snobbery for their shitty non-elite soccah!

Haha.

It’s an oval ball only a little smaller than a Aussie rules football …what should we call our game?

For me, Aussie Rules, NFL, football, rugby and league.

But I don't know why anyone really gives a crap, in the scheme of thi gs it's not the biggest problem in the world.

At least 50% of the time we are kicking the ball, well probably more like 75% of the time so foot is appropriate in footy. The ball is deffo rugby shaped though.

I dont call AFL football though if overseas etc. I call it Aussie Rules. At home it's just the footy and the EPL is the football.

Classic Jod. A double speak in the same sentence. Also the world ball does not mean round.

Yes but that doesn’t mean the next disposal is going to be a kick..indeed

This was one of the most popular PC 'football' games both here and in Europe where I first started following and playing the game in the early 90s.

As far as I know, no one really had an issue with the name of the game back then (and I bought and read a lot of UK gaming magazines back then)

Also it's so amusing how so many here get so riled up by that word when our national team is literally called The Socceroos.

That was the GOAT game on the mighty Amiga 500!

Isn't the main program in the UK called Soccer Saturday?
