Mourinho must now be on thin ice at Roma ..one win from first six games, 4-1 loss overnight to newly promoted Genoa, loss to Tiraspol in Europa

Once he starts his public digs at players and club ownership you know the end is near. Don't think he's at that stage yet.

Just one from left field.

I was talking to a mate about players who have been accomplished at centre back and centre forward. It seems to be a rare quality. Chris Sutton got a mention. John Charles but then we are going way back. Who else?

Not quite the same but Steve Bruce had a season where he scored 19 goals or something.

Maguire lined up at centre forward for us against West Ham back in 2016.

This was much more common place back in the day when teams had less substitutes.

Further, A LOT of centre halves started their careers as centre forwards.
Or Goalkeepers playing centre forward...

Obviously Shane Ellen is the GOAT of that switch.

“In the 1997 Grand Final, Ellen was considered the unlikely hero for the Crows. In the first half he booted two goals from full-forward, playing there in place of the injured Tony Modra. He was then switched to the half-back line by coach Malcolm Blight, which proved to be an inspired move – Ellen kicked three of his five goals for the match after half-time.[1]

Finished with 16 career goals. Malcolm Blight was a genius and Shane Ellen had a story his family and mates would never get bored of listening to.

After a bit of a sad google rabbit hole I can add Gary Doherty, Jurgen Klopp and Laurent Blanc to the list.

Laurent Blanc is Montpelliers all time record goal scorer according to wikipedia and 3rd according to transfermarkt.

Bastian Schweinsteiger was played at CB for Chicago Fire. They probably thought CM was too gruelling for him because of the shape he was in after the 2014 World Cup final. :p

Gullit was played at sweeper rather than CB wasn't he? I suppose it's still a defensive role. He was probably one of those players who could play anywhere. Like Gerrard, who started on the wing, moved into the middle, then later had a deeper role (with added slippyness).

I know a couple of players because they used to play for Oldham. Ian Marshall was brilliant at both CF and CB. Paul Warhurst was CB for Sheff Wednesday until they had a couple of injuries to the forwards. He scored 12 goals in 12 games, earning him a call up to the England squad. He played most of the rest of his career in midfield.

Yes, Blanc started as an AM.

Oh s**t, hopefully that's resolved safely. The guy better get the help he needs from his club.
Resolved. Player had a breakup with his girlfriend apparently. Only 22.

Why the need for the media to even publish this?
