Kolarov is a shit defender (by "big club" standards), so he is hardly a loss.

He is for my fantasy team that's already been hit by Aguero and Krul. :(

Bit like Chelsea losing Branislol Ivanovic.

Apparently they are "anxiously" awaiting news on his injury.

international break has really stuffed over a fair few clubs. not being able to get an emergency loan in for krul could be a dagger blow already.
So glad Sturridge didnt go away with England and Coutinho also didnt go away with Brazil.

I hate International breaks. You just sit there on the edge of your seat hoping and praying none of you key players gets injured.

Bojan KantKick seems a few media sources have jumped on your talk of Valdes from yesterday. He's being linked to a move to us in January.

Seems we will be in line for compensation of about 1m under FIFA's Club Protection Programme as well, which is something to take out of a bad situation for both Krul and the club.

can't these campaigners think of anything on there own. The least they can do is quote me in the paper.

'as revealed yesterday by Pulitzer prize winner Bojan KantKick, Victor Valdes is on his way to Tyneside. After last summers snub of Pool, the spanish world and european cup winner has decided his future lies under the expert tutelage of Steve McLaren. The Spaniard was convinced by the offer of an authentic 2nd hand 3 lions umbrella'

Does the FA not allow emergency loans? You'd think Newcastle woujd qualify for that right now with their keeping situation.

Apparently under the criteria we aren't eligible as we have 4 registered professional goalkeepers at the club.

From an article in one of the local rags:

"Though Elliot has yet to play a single minute of first-team football this season and Woodman has never made a Premier League appearance, Newcastle do not qualify for an emergency goalkeeper loan.

Point 54 of Section 6 of the Football League and Premier League’s regulations deals with the emergency loan of goalkeepers, and this clearly states that such provisions will only be granted should all registered professional stoppers at a club be ruled out on medical grounds (or due to suspensions)."

Dunno but to me, seems kind of farcical that we'd need to have 4 keepers ruled out before we can even apply for an emergency loan. Surely if you lose your first 2 or even 3 keepers it should be allowed?

Just had a look over on Physioroom.com and seems we are top of the table with a healthy (should that be unhealthy?) lead!!!!

Nice to see us challenging at the top again, I forgot how much cleaner the air was up here. :drunk:

You mean this list?

25 squad players
Player (*=Home grown)

Abeid, Mehdi
*Ameobi, Samuel
Anita, Vurnon San Benito
Cabella, Remy
Cisse, Papiss Demba
*Colback, Jack Raymond
Coloccini, Fabricio
De Jong, Siem
*Dummett, Paul
*Elliot, Robert
Ferreyra, Facundo
Gouffran, Yoan
Gutierrez, Jonas Manuel
Haidara, Massadio
Janmaat, Daryl
*Krul, Timothy Michael
Obertan, Gabriel Antoine
Riviere, Emmanuel
Santon, Davide
Sissoko, Moussa
*Taylor, Ryan Anthony
*Taylor, Steven Vincent
Tiote, Cheik Ismael
*Vuckic, Haris
*Williamson, Michael James

Remembering that U21s don't need to be listed, it sounds like to me you only need Elliot to have an injury to activate the 'crisis' status. Darlow never counted since he wasn't registered.

But it does kinda suck that you can't do a thing about it other than to just play Elliot and Woodman and hope nothing happens to Elliot.

Sounds like McLaren needs to get all 3 other keepers suspended so he can sign Valdes :)

That looks like last season's list as quite a few of those names are at different clubs now. :)

I was trying to figure it out yesterday though FT, we had a similar situation last season where Krul and Elliot were injured (Darlow out on loan at Forest as part of his transfer deal) and we were forced into playing the mostly untried Alnwick - if memory serves me, we didn't even apply for an emergency loan then either.

At first glance I thought it might just be players included in the 25 man squad but then I thought it might be a bit excessive for a club to have 4 keepers registered (or maybe 3 since Woodman was on loan at Crawley?)

Elliot is serviceable I suppose but with our defence looking depleted, it might be more of a worry for us. I guess the carrot for him is he has a chance to make a claim for an improbable spot on the plane for the Republic of Ireland at the Euros.

That being said, when the guy is on record of saying in a tweet "I got so drunk last night I actually thought a tube of toothpaste was astronaut food!!!" - it doesn't exactly inspire you with great confidence. :D

Ha ha, didn't even notice that. I was looking up the keepers only (So I didn't wonder why some of your transfers were not listed).

Here this year's listing:

http://www.premierleague.com/en-gb/...015-2016-premier-league-squads-announced.html

But yeah, you have 3 keepers listed, 2 of them are currently injured.

But yeah, you did have something similar, and on the basis of the previous year listing (hey, it did come in handy!) You should've applied for an emergency loan, because it does satisfy the conditions. So why you guys didn't do it... if I'm not mistaken, isn't an emergency loan in this situation just one that you are loaned for a week, only renewing if the situation doesn't change? Also, if I recall correctly, didn't Pardew claim that he was playing for his next contract?

You are indeed correct about Pards challenging him to play for his next contract. That infact was after his debut when he came on against Chelsea and helped us hold on for the win.

After Pardiola threw down the gauntlet to him:
  • conceded 4 to Arsenal.
  • conceded 4 to Spurs (including 1 howler which opened the scoring) in the League Cup quarter finals.
  • conceded an injury time winner to the Mackems in the derby (though wasn't really at fault for that tragedy).
  • conceded 3 against Burnley.
  • conceded 1 against the mighty Foxes in the FA Cup. ;)
Of course Pards moved to greener pastures after the Burnley game so maybe he was trolling us the whole time and never intended to apply for an emergency loan. :p

Speaking to a mate about it, where to next for Rodgers?

I think he'd be best served at an ambitious Championship club more than a cellar dwellar like a Villa or Newcastle who have the genuine threat of relegation looming. That would be a career killer for the gofer IMO.
