Can we please get that as a % of ground capacity? Absolute numbers are not enough to tell the whole story. (Let's not forget that season ticket holders are counted towards attendance numbers!)

Because I think you'll find that Sunderland figure is actually rather disappointing.

Why shouldn't they be?

Yeah, was my point a while back that comparing crowd sizes between teams with different capacities is useless without actually looking at how close they get to sell-outs.
The sell out percentages still wouldn't give you an accurate figure as it counts all STH that don't turn up.

Getting the actual physical attendance would be the best way to do it but I doubt the clubs provide those figures.

There, I did all the work for you, ya blue bum.

We're actually 8th. Not bad at all! (STH included though...)

I'm pretty happy with being over 90% full given the 30% ticket price increase and the unrest with the fans.

If you have more spare time you could add in a breakdown of home and away fans on average (I think clubs provide those figures). :P

I'm sure NUFC Tiger would love to tell you all about it.

(Abridged version: STH can just not turn up to the game, and they will still be counted as part of the official figure despite never checking themselves into SJP.)

I guess his point is the club still receives revenue from them. I agree they shouldn't be counted though as it is a false representation of matchday support, which is the spirit of these tables.

I just don't see what the point is in differentiating between "attendance" and "tickets sold".

At any given Arsenal game there are 46,000 season ticket holders. Those seats are reserved every game.

The club cant do anything if those people don't attend the game. For all purpose those seats are "attended" to no matter if only 14,000 people show up.

Because we're talking about the loyalty and passion of the fans. The higher the percentage of the stadium full on any given matchday will have a bigger impact on the players and the viewing experience.

Does not make for pretty reading for Villa, though that'll have jumped up in recent weeks.

Police will do figures for actual attendance, you would have to do a FOI request to get them though. Not sure why anyone is fussed though.

Heh, that honestly didn't take me too long.

That said, trying to get the away support figures... ye gods. The saddest thing is? I can provide figures for the Championship, League 1 and League 2 very easily. I can't even get Leicester's figures let alone the Premier League. How is it possible that I can get everything from the below divisions, but can barely get anything from the Premier League outside of the semi-unreliable away average (Which calculates the full total attendance, and can be very unfair for some teams since you can have home fans not attending for whatever reason... like a boycott, for instance.)

No seriously, I can tell you what the support levels are like for Yeovil Town throughout the season, but I can't tell you what Leicester's support level is like.

Just for lols, here's the Championship away following:

The only thing I can tell you is that Hull had 1,541 away to Palace. That's about it. (I can also say what the other away followings were for that Matchday as well as Leicester at West Brom.)

So, unfortunately, that's the best I can do... unless they release this information at the end of the season (Then again, the 'total away average' seems like a very PL thing to do.)

Awesome stuff Fryer!

Nice to see the Mackems down where they belong. :p

For all their "we're the biggest in the NE" and "we've got amazing support/the best supporters in the country" bs, they can't even sell out the derby and have to give tickets away. :$

Given how low their %full figure is, perhaps they'll feel right at home in the Championship after the Foxes help send them on their way. :)

Those figures for Villa are quite surprising. Can only suspect the dissatisfaction under Lerner is maybe keeping some fans away?
