It's been hit and miss to date but wouldn't dismiss it completely. Yorke and Ono did well as well as ADP. Fowler not so much. But I'd say the bigger name ones tend to be pretty good.

It's the mid range ones like Aaron Hughes, Koren and Jardel that have sucked

i dont think it should be removed, i think they need to be smarter about it. maybe use it more as a reward for the better performers of the league.

It's clear if they're going to go with a marquee they should go all in and not half arsed with players like Koren.

Or have none then unearth a Fornaroli and move him up to that status and find another gem like him. There's always going to be a side that's last, think they'd be better served getting bums on seats with some big names in the squad

but are they really getting the bums in seats? for a place like sydney, sure, but they already have those fans for the most part. but they also have the connections and such to bring some of those sorts across. the clubs that need those names generally won't get them, or the marquee impact is not really great enough.
