Pretty happy with how he finished off his season. He was actually really good in the ruck yesterday tap wise. He kept jumper way over Brogan and palming the ball beautifully. Obviously not a long term ruck solution but also took a good grab up forward and unfortunately after positioning himself well dropped a sitter.

Looking forward to seeing him hold down CHF next year and run around a bit. Was a bit worried at the start of the year but still confident this kid is going to make the grade for us.

How did you see his season and what are your expectations for next year?

Rucking him in the past 2 games as got him into the play much quicker and got him kick started. You can see the confidence building and when he hangs on to his marks a bit better, we've got a seriously good key forward on our hands. I like how Hardwick is making lots of our players 2 dimensional.

Little bursts in the ruck helps get him into the game (bit like Hawkins) and he's not bad at it either. Would like to see him hold down one of the hardest positions in the game (CHF) in the future though.

Hope to see more of him in '11

When he was rucking I think we saw his value behind the ball. He grabbed it a few times and then just waltzed around a few players in a pack and spotted up a target. I still think he's our attacking CHB for the next decade. Very creative and a strong defensive mark, but he gets lost in the forwardline and has to rely on jumping from a shocking position.

I was a little surprised at how well he moved with the ball... a couple of times whilst rucking he received a handball from a mid & took a few quick lateral steps to get clear & deliver.
Also, early in the last qtr his pass to Reiwoldt for his second goal was spot on... seems to have pretty neat kicking skills.
I reckon his timing when going for grabs will improve significantly with more & more game time too.

I had niggling worries about Post during the season (after a promising first year last year) as he was bogged down at Coburg and not really getting in the 'bests'.

However, I'm happy how he finished of this season now & am confident he will provide good value from next year.

Great signs in the last couple of weeks. Time for the Postman to deliver a BIG preseason.

Agree with the OP completely. I'm predicting a big year at CHF for Posty next season. Just needs to learn to hold onto his grabs.

Post has got his speed and urgency up to where it should be now. Looks very promising like he did last year. Looks suited to half forward or half back. Probably feels uncomfortable as a leading target in the goal square judging by early games this year

Didn't he play as defender as a young guy. Wasn't that him taking a heap of marks in the U18's final at half back? After seeing him yesterday, would like to see him tried as a loose zoning defender. With the odd pinch hitting in the ruck to provide some run. As mentioned above, it's great to see Hardwick is getting players to learn different positions which will help the team benefit big time down the track.

He dropped a few sitters yesterday & look at the replay about the 21min mark of last Qtr when he flew with Jack & spoilt a certain Mark. LONG way to go.

I agree with everyone else. It has taken time, but im starting to see some great signs from Post. He has crashed some packs and taken a few nice marks.. missed a couple of mark of the week attempts too lol. And is looking nice with the ball in his hands.

Im still not decided on whether he should be CHF or CHB, i think it will come down to his goal kicking at set shots. If he is a 60%+ shot at goal then keep him at CHF.

will be just a third yr tall next yr. while we should expect some improvement to expect him to hold down and play chf well all yr is just unrealistic.
he will have his share of poor games.

and just for the record i still think he should be played at chb.

I agree with this,i guess it depends how much Ben Griffiths comes on next year. Griff is only 18 - Post only 20, vickery between the two.

We have some very good young KPP prospects.

Griff is a longer kick than Post but post has shown is delivery is very good - In an ideal world i would have him at CHB.

Agree with the dropped marks, but I think once he starts clunking a few of them the confidence will grow and we'll see him become a very good footballer.

Astbury playing well at half back has probably been a bit of a god-send for Posty, he looks like a natural marking half forward to me.

Yeah I agree, when I say "a big year" I don't mean 60 goals, I just mean I expect him to play most of the season at CHF (of CHB for that matter) and establish himself as best 22. If forward, 20-30 goals would be a marvelous season.
