Analysis The Preseason - What went wrong?

Well:

Forward line: How did we plan to kick more goals? Ballantyne out of form, Mayne still no goalkicker, no ruck or other tall really delivering anything, Yarran and Bennell not yet ready to play, Pav older again. Only Fyfe forward worked but he is gone now...

Midfield: Mundy unjured, now Fyfe. Nobody really in great form.

Ruck: Sandi suspended, then injured, Griffin and Clarke haven't really step up like in the past when Sandi was gone.

Defense: Lost experience in the last two years, Johnson and Ibbo down on form as well. A. Pearce look, but our new rebounders are not really true defenders.

Really not really much improvement to be seen for this season from personal. We do play youngster now, but they have to work hard for it. We really had no one pushing for a secure spot for ages. Most other top teams have 1-2 each year.

Find it hard to say what went wrong otherwise. Be more attacking and kicking skills were our preaseson plan. The latter has failed so badly somehow it is hard to tell what happened to the former. Perhaps the player got used to much to a system/gameplan, now they are under a lot of mental pressure when trying to play different. Hard to find another explanation...

I think the plan was to get more goals from the midfield essentially.

In terms of mental pressure etc, that is the coaching staff's job to adequately prepare the players for the season. They failed to do that.
