Here is something I think is unique and just the thing to fill a few hours, or days, while we wait for the real action to kick off.
Right up your ally I reckon DTM.

"The Zenith bleeds in black and white,
The Phoenix leaves the cusp in waiting,
Beware the rise of Collingwood might,
The perch of envy they’ll all be chasing”

Excellent stuff! Someone's been made redundant.

You're in a bad way, Pie eyed. Maybe you need to look at this:

Someone gave me a copy for Christmas. Don't see why I should be the only one to suffer........

The Buckley Surfers are awesome. Know their Collingwood like few others.

Yeah. Some of the oblique clues, when deciphered, albeit by design, show a deep knowledge of all things Collingwood.
Damned funny read though.
Pity it never came to pass.

I found this really enlightening.

It really does put some of the young players recent exploits in perspective when you realise that Bucks also had his share drink related incidents.

"MAD MONDAY 1994

Legend has it that Bucks and Mick McGuane came to blows at the end of season celebrations after that finals loss in 1994. Was it frustration? Was it any taunting about that infamous missed mark? Or are the rumours way off the mark? Bucks laughs as he recalls the day.

"I hit the ground because I was so drunk that I couldn't stand up anymore! I didn't have a fight with Mick. We were at the old Circuit Sports Bar, remember that?
(distant memories of too many long nights flood back to Driver) Anyway, we were playing on their basketball court and I ran into Mick to tackle him. We had a bit of a wrestle but it was all in fun.

"But I also remember being pretty emotional that day because I wanted more success. Sure I thought we would play more finals after that first one but many at the club were still looking back at 1990 rather than looking forward."

We were reeling from the revelation that Nathan Buckley, the supreme athlete and spearhead of TAC driving campaigns once got drunk!

"At the start of 1995 I went off the grog completely. I had heard that you could perform better if you didn't drink and I thought that I should try it because how do you know it is or it isn't better if you haven't tried it."

Is this more of Bucks the perfectionist striving for that nth degree of improvement? He does not disagree.

"Every decision I have ever made has been about playing better footy!"
he says emphatically.

And did the no-drinking policy work? "Well I had a few poor games and after my 50th game where I also played poorly I had a few beers. The next week I did well and so that was that."

"I didn't drink last year because I wanted to influence a few of the young kids around the club. But I think you need to strike a balance. It is best to pick an 8 or 9 day break between games and have one or two beers if you want. But then you have to do the work to make it up."

Hard work - there is no substitute."
