Promoters, judges, refs killing this sport. Way too many lousy matches made, challengers ducked and this kind of judging. It was ever thus but it’s just ridiculous now. Anyway it was a good win, still with some work to do but it was a step up and he came through.

Feels like every boxing event I've watched for the last few years that go to judges have a seriously poor decision. It's not over playing to say that judging is really killing that sport.

I'm just happy it was unanimous even though the actual scores were ridiculous. He deserved a unanimous decision. If it was anything other than that I'm sure there'd be questions asked. I think Boxxer are even investigating the results of Taylor-Catterall now. They need to be removed from the sport. Guys work their entire lives for moments like that and some corrupt group just strips them of that. It's disgusting really.

No you're 100% right. I'm glad Kambosos' fight was scored fairly (I say that loosely, that should've been unanimous too), but the others I've watched over the years that have gone to decision have been a joke. Unless there's one fighter completely dominating the other, the result is up in the air. It's laughable. And even when a fighter dominates the other it's scored 114-113 LOL.

How does the 10-9-8 thing work in that sport? Like do they just decide who they thought won a round and then the other guy gets 9 unless he was really shit in which case he gets 8?

How does the 10-9-8 thing work in that sport? Like do they just decide who they thought won a round and then the other guy gets 9 unless he was really shit in which case he gets 8?

Ten point must so the winner of the round gets 10. If you can’t split them 10 - 10 most rounds are 10 - 9 so you handily win 10 - 9. A 10 - 8 is usually a round dominated by one fighter resulting in a knockdown or a standing 8 count. Penalty points for deliberate fouls are deducted from the fighter so repeated low blows with a 1 point deduction and getting knocked down 10 - 7 and so on. Most rounds are 10 - 9 but it’s pretty easy for judges to flip rounds when nothing really decisive happens, a good jab is a must because in those rounds if you’re the aggressor and landing behind a jab you’ll get the round usually. A shit judge will flip that on a wild flurry that hit fresh air, gloves and elbows.

Haha yeah being the aggressor but how often do these chumps that judge fights these days pay any attention to it. Home town boy backs up for most of the fight gets a decision on being the aggressor and ring control

Mind you the crowd who often know nothing are pissed and miles from the action scream for the hometown stiff like he’s killing his opponent so the crowd often agrees with them.

Someone mentioned he was doing this during our game as well. Apparently looked off, was spewing and sweating profusely and had the backup umpire checking in regularly.
