As a young man I didn't enjoy beer and preferred sweeter drinks. Then in the late 70s I briefly worked as a labourer in the foundry at Chryslers over summer, where it was freaking hot. So one day when I was invited to the nearby Lonsdale after work and we (obviously) drank in rounds I was automatically given a cold beer. It was like angels singing, I suddenly 'got' beer. Still wonderful many years later at the footy....... Unless you're a laborer building railways in ten hour shifts, then you don't need all the other non-alcoholy stuff thats in it (beer) ....
I think you are confusing Lonsdale with Damascus. As a young man I didn't enjoy beer and preferred sweeter drinks. If you haven't watched the latest episode of Community, you won't get this.
Seriously I haven't been this hungover since the "tequila incident" of 1985.
Actually the home made "sambucca incident" of 1991 where I woke up in bed with the Rundle Mall - King William St corner street signs was a pretty bad hangover too.
The 1995 "pissed in girlfriends parents fridge" incident was a sad and sorry hangover.
2014 "lines of coke off strippers ****" hangover will go down in history which makes me feel a bit better about how shit I feel right now.
Not having a Good Friday then?
