Wasn't something approved? Some hotel with high end designer brand shops?
I worked for a finance company in the late 80s and plans were in place then to redevelop the site.

My younger sisters love 1D, i am not sure we are related.

I have probably been told the answer to that question.

I thought that you'd be too old to have 12 year old sisters!

I thought so too, but my dad disagreed.

Also are you saying I'm old???

The phonetic presence of the term "erection" in the name has always vaguely unnerved me.

Has anything been approved yet for that vacant block on O'Connell St, North Adelaide yet?
Ffs the le cornu site, honestly. What a joke that is.

Yeah that happens every couple of years I think. :p

raman is the winner. The rest of you have been getting your news from the bloody Fertililzer. Port people should know better, especially just after the disgraceful bias of the last election coverage. Not just dumb, biased and destructive on sport. It's culturally toxic. Why would that surprise ?

There have been at least 5 plans approved for the site via 2-3 owners over the years. Each time (bar the last) the developer came back with an ambit claim well over the approval. The ACC may be a bunch of recalcitrant ****s at times but on this matter they are unfairly maligned.

The last one, 2007-2008 ish, approval was via SAG's "major projects" power, taking it away from council. I was at the "community consultation" meeting and made the acquaintance of some odd characters - presumably from the building industry - at the back of the room muttering scary things about the more "negative" speakers. I choose my words very carefully. Then GFC hit and the developer put everything on hold due to inability to finance the project at the time. Pretty sure the same developed did the City Cross upgrade and the same folks who demolished most of the "heritage" O'Connell St frontage of the North Adelaide village - presumably in support of their plans for the other side of the road.

Anyway - great development is great development. Roll on Adelaide oval !!! Rest in peace, Victoria Park permanent grandstand. It's just that here in Adelaide we just have s*** developers (I mean in terms of architectural merit), relatively low budgets and a stupid desire (fed by toxic media) for simplistic conclusions. And a uniquely numpty-conservative element. It's a shallow pond in some ways. Please send more boats.

Full disclosure: 20 year+ North Adelaide resident.
