Huge fan of the comic back in the day. Haven't read it since Ennis wrapped it up. Not sure if it still holds up.

But yeah, there's some pretty crazy and funny shit in the comic. Expecting a pretty loose adaptation. Shit, you'd need a blockbuster budget for some of the set-pieces.

Definitely gonna check it out, though, and probably give it more of a run than most shows...

It's my all time favourite comic along side the Punisher Max series (also Ennis). It definitely still holds up, it's timeless.

The first episode has impressed me, I was kind of scared they'd **** it up like every other awesome comic turned screenplay but they didn't. Jesse and Cassidy's casting was perfect.

Watched a short doco about land pricing and property speculation, essentially claiming that 19% of properties are left vacant so as to decrease the supply of houses available and incease prices - much like how I noticed Apple ingenously released too few apple watches when they launched so that people would actually pay the ludicrous prices rather than miss out.

It proposed a land tax, that would hopefully reduce the need for income taxes and GST. It's certainly makes sense to my mind as someone working has a much larger benefit to society than someone buying houses, so IMO tax should reflect that.

I've heard the idea floated before, and I'm sure many people realise now how terrible things like negative gearing and reduced capital gains tax are for the economy, particularly in the housing market. I did still find it interesting though, as I hadn't thought so much about the concept of a land tax before, but it certainly seems like a great idea.

The documentary is from 2010 and its called "Real Estate 4 Ransom" its probably a bit silly, and over the top/not supported enough by evidence (at least it doesn't quote enough evidence IMO) but people might find it interesting anyway.

Land Tax currently exists in SA with residential property exempted. When a developer subdivides land into residential blocks, Land Tax is applicable immediately each year until sold. Speaking from first hand knowledge of just how much that adds to the ultimate price of each block.

F@%king hell, my 31yo nephew is hardcore Marvel. He arked up the other day when I dared suggest Bats v Supes is better than X-Men: Apocalypse. Thought he was gonna take a swing. Seriously.

Of course, he hasn't see X-M:A yet. But the dickhead had to fly the Marvel flag. Ugh.

I've read that the show does take a few liberties with the storyline that's away from the comic so the fresh eyes thing is a good tactic. A few of my friends have mentioned doing the same thing.
I recently bought the books for my wife so I re read it just after she did so we could talk about it. I'll try not to be a pedant when the show takes alternate paths.

All this GOT talk but don't see much for Penny Dreadful. Eva Green due for an Emmy/Golden Globe incredible actress.

Penny Dreadful is good, except hopefully Frankenstein grows a set, his adolescent boy crush antics grates. If you're going for an actress for an award I'd go with Orphan Black's Tatiana Maslany. I keep on forgetting it is one actress

Ive seen both sides of suicide. One suçcessfull. Not good to see. Ive also seen many failed that could have turned into loss of life. Its hard to turn someone around
that is suicidle. More often than not these days its attention seeking. We live in a

I liked Mr Proteus, the first two eps were great...but then every time they tried to paint Frankenstein's Monster as a victim after that I got less interested in the whole show. Havent kept up.

Yeah season 1 was a bit of a disappointment, wasn't exactly what I was expecting from the series. It gets a lot better in season 2 I reckon.

Yep. Though I'd classify the strangest mood I sometimes get is when someone is happy with something I've done or just me in general and I want to piss them off to the point they no longer are. **** knows what is up with that one. These days I generally don't go ahead and annoy people in these situations, but it's still strange.

I enjoyed the shit out of it. Really cool vibe with lots of interesting characterisations. Really pulpy comic book feel

Arseface is in there with a proper face like an arse so that's a good start. That's something that could have been easily cut or reinterpreted for a T.V. viewing audience.

I've only read some of the comics because they're not really something I've ever had the money to invest into but have enjoyed what I did read. You'll have to keep me up to date with how close they stick to the source material. Bloody two weeks till the next episode!
