There's a movie called Final Cut or something similar with Robin Williams that explores this sort of stuff. Nice dark movie, Robin had a talent for the serious stuff.
Great movie. One of those Robin Williams dark characters.

I've DNA tested both my dogs, but not myself yet.

Where/how do you get these done?

A few years late but National Graphic were doing these tests for free in Rundle Mall for one of their doco's, i think it was for the wider picture of the population than individuals.

I tried the Ancestry website during one of their free weekends and came up with absolutely no information on my family's history.

Yes, people must have been really pessimistic back then

Someone should've made a "futuristic" movie of a world where there was no police and the inhabitants were left to their own devices, but instead of dystopian negativity and violence they wound up living in a community of voluntary, mutual cooperation, worker owned and controlled businesses, and a society devoid of hierarchical structures divided along class and racial lines where police are used to enforce the will and wishes of the elites. :)

23andme.com is the one I used. They send out a box, you spit in a tube which mixes with some stabilising agent, mail it back and wait a couple months.

It looks like the ancestry one is willing to take a few more guesses at specific regions that the one I did wasn't. (`British & Irish' was a category), so maybe try them.

This sounds very dubious to me!!

I and Miss Feel are gonna give it a go, why not. It's not really that expensive.

You've just described the beginning of Logan's Run... without the catch. There's always a catch.

23andMe and similar things are reliable for basic ancestry for what that's worth, but the interpretation of genetic risk factors for many things is a bit suss.

It'll tell you a whole bunch of other stuff too, about genetic diseases and if you are free of markers, and some other odd things like how Neanderthal you are. I do recommend.

Pretty sure I've achieved peak Neanderthal. We shoud DNA test potential draftees, if they have a high Neanderthal percentage piss them off, we don't need a team of Troy Chaplins. That said, we could end up with a Brendan Fevola though, but we would have to control his cave man urges.

Friend at work got a sports massage from one of the PA masseuses. Asked her to get the goss on best quads turns out it's hammer followed by broadly (and not Ollie). He wouldn't be drawn on best butt....but I guess we all have our own thoughts on that :p

Ollies quads aren't defined, huge but not defined. Hammer is easily our most ripped player.

Someone alert the authorities this is pinko propaganda

STD/STI's are not genetic, well, if you don't count passing on something to your child through gestation.

Lol just got an issue of this investor magazine I get every now and then. The description.

"With many Gen Ys staying in the family home late into their twenties, the risk of them becoming a long-term financial burden on their parents is a new reality. We take a look into the importance – for both your savings and your child's budgeting skills – of charging your adult kids board."

Boomers, it's time to reap the benefits of your failing children living at home.
