Does the redeeming stage start here? Don't usually watch Melbourne matches but the way they have come back against the Giants in the fourth quarter is really inspiring.

Hopefully it is. I suspect it dawned on them in the three quarter time break that they simply had to win this one. It was great for them to come out the way they did and perform, but the first three quarters was quite rubbish also.

It all depends on what happens next week. If we put in another insipid performance against Brisbane, this week means nothing.

Just had to come on and congratulate your team on its tremendous result. It may be a fair call to say that anybody could have run over a GWS team that had nothing left in its tank, but your lot did it with such brains, vision, heart and panache that it wouldn't have mattered who was under that avalanche. Really champagne footy, and a pleasure for even a neutral to watch.

And one last thing: I posted on your boards way back about how much Shagga Byrnes was loved and respected in Geelong, and about how much he would bring to your club. His 2nd & 3rd/ 4s especially now give me the right to say "I told you so".

I hope that you can take the positives out of today's superb performance & generate some real momentum. Good luck!

Byrnes was very handy today.
However, as good as the last quarter was, the 3 before it weren't anywhere near as flash. The skills, decision making and pressure weren't there and there is a lot to iron out before we can start thinking of knocking off the Lions away from home.

We could of won by 40 points the easy way, winning each quarter by 10 points. But maybe it's a blessing in disguise, gives the boys confidence to dig in deep and win. We could of thrown in the towel.

Fantastic win, and could help us turn a corner, but a big test next week up in Brisbane. Need to back it up.

Let's not get ahead of ourselves, great fight to win in that last qtr, something we haven't showed in a long time. However, we can't forget the previous two quarters which would honestly go down as two of the worst I've ever seen this club play.

Not trying to be a downer as today was great in the end, but I think Brisbane will have us comfortably up there. Need to have a crack for 120 minutes and not embarrass ourselves.

I thought the first 3 quarters was just a side horribly out of form and confidence trying to get something going but maybe trying to hard, yeah it wasn't pretty to watch but I never actually thought they raised the white flag.
The final quarter was a side that had nothing to lose and threw caution to the wind, playing without worrying about the consequences of stuffing up, hopefully they take a shitload of confidence out of seeing what can happen when they play like they train.
