just looking at the rockets starting 5 and they dont have any1 that would be big enough to defend the good centers and power forwards.dave anderson is the biggest guy there and he only play 10-15 minutes a game. they have 5-6 players that are between 200cm-206.no bigger .they are kidding themselves if they think theyll come close to the championship.

I like the Rockets, they make all the Lawrence Frank injury excuse 0-13 apologists look stupid.

Adelman for Coach of the Year so far imho.

The combined salary of their starters in less than $20m.

There are some players who play to lift a pay cheque and there are some who play to lift their team. You get these guys at Houston and there is no king dick, no one on the court who make you their subservient for their jump shot or their drive into the lane. If they want to win they have to do it as a unit and listen to their coach.

I like seeing this, its pretty similar to what they displayed during the playoffs last year.

Guarantee they'll go downhill when t-mac comes back unfortunately. They're a team full of role players

I'm not sure why the entire internets are trying to give the Rockets a giant reach around for being 8-6 when a Bucks team that has started Charlie Bell, Carlos Delfino and Hakeem Warrick for most of the season is 8-3.

Brandon Jennings has gotten much more of a "reacharound" than Houston. And they had Bogut too. Have a look at the Bucks schedule, lots of home games and they have only beaten one team who will definitely make the playoffs. I think they have actually managed to play just about every single one of the crappest teams in the league so far.

Yep, if you look at strength of schedule Milwaukee's opponents at @ .366 and the Rox are @ .578, which makes Houston's record more impressive.

Both deserve props, though.

How do you look at strength of schedule? Whats the Raptors? They have had a seriously hard start to the season, interested to know what the number is.

No chance of a championship, so i guess we should just give up now. Call the season off or something? Did anyone actually predict or think we could win it all?

We play with heart and with good team work. Considering some people had us finishing near the bottom of the west we have had a good start. Hopefully we can give the playoffs a push and see what we can do from there. I'd love to see another Lax v Rox encounter, especially considering last year and the first couple of games this year.

woah. listen. no i dont think anyone tipped the rox to win the championship. BUT everyone likes/loves the way they play given the fact there are no superstars, just team players. kinda like say north melbourne of the nba.

near bottom of the west? who predicted that?

we're 5 weeks in and its a long season, but there's a feeling that some fans are wanting more recognition* for their team/player. a suns fan created a thread just to get some props. also brandon jennings apparently has ROY sewn up.

* recognition = reacharound

Let's have a reacharound thread. Sasha Vujacic can start.

T-Mac will not be back to Houston, this I think is becoming apparent.

Clutch from clutchfans has just tweeted that Rick does not want anything more to do with him on the team.

Will be interesting to see how things progress from here.

Has been very pleasing watching Houston so far this year, they play hard ever night and never give up. As a Houston fan you couldn't ask for anything more considering the money we have sitting on the sidelines.

Chuck Hayes has really stepped it up this year :thumbsu:

Thats it hey - no one thought you were a chance to win anything this year, so to be in the position your in is a fantastic effort. I love watching the Rox play, they have a great rotation and need to get the most out of their roster to win, rather than rely on a superstar to carry them. I hope they make the playoffs this year, would be a huge achievement.

Oh and cheers for that MDC. Interesting to see the numbers, I thought they had had a really tough start to the season.

At the start of the year, alot of write ups were saying how the Rockets will slide big time this season. It's really hard to see us going at this pace for the rest of the yearbut i really like the heart these guys show, and they all do their jobs without the drama and play as a team. We will give a few good teams some upsets this year but the playoffs is a whole different story that will be our roadblock I imagine.

T-Mac coming back is going to be interesting though to say the least.

Love how the Rockets go about things. Their GM knows what he's doing. How many other teams would have a winning record without not just their two best players but without 2 max contracts (implying that you have less money to spend on the rest of the team)? Perhaps the Lakers would still be decent without Gasol and Kobe, anyone else? Boston without KG and PP wouldn't be good, Phoenix without Amare and Nash = shite etc etc.

I'm pretty sure Tmac's contract comes off the books after this season, hopefully Yao plays again, they definately could make a splash in the offseason and get their team looking real good for next season.

I think its got as much to do with Adelman than anyone else IMHO. Throughout his coaching career he has been able to handle his teams when major players go down. He has a system that players love to play in and it allows for interchangable pieces.

He is without a doubt one of the most under-rated coaches in the league. I don't hide from the fact that I am a MASSIVE Adelman fan. I have always said that the biggest **** up the Kings made was to let him go. Only now have we been able to get a real coach to replace him (3 years down the track).

Rick Adelman is one of the best coaches in the league and has been for a LONG LONG time. He is a gun.

Yep, Adelman's a victim of that ruthless sporting mentality that no championship = failure. He is a superb coach, and has been for a long time.

On the flipside, look at someone like Rudy Tomjanovich, who whilst apparently a very nice guy, just wasn't much of a coach. Yet because he lucked into Hakeem in his prime, the guy is now universally revered. Ain't right.
