just wanted to hear what Saints fans view on this were......

From my view, all I can say is, if Johny Worsfold decided to employ the same thing I'd throw up. I really haven't heard of anything so stupid in footballing circles for a long time. Clearly to mee it seems common sense to stick with one captain allowing players to get used to him......

I think it is easy to disagree with with rotation because it is such a radical step, but because it is a rotational thing we can't really judge how effective it will be until after a few years when several players have stepped up and taken on the reponsibility of captain. Hamill has been fantastic this year and although a lot of people think he should retain the captaincy, I really doubt whether Grant Thomas will take a step backwards. We could argue that Hamill is a natural leader and should captain for many years, or we could also say that the rotation policy has bought out the best in Hamill and could do the same for Lenny Hayes or Nick Riewoldt. Also, even if Hamill doesn't retain the captaincy next year, you would not expect his role as a leader to deteriorate. He should still be a great leader whether or not there is a (C) next to his name in the footy record. I will reserve judgement on the rotation policy until we can see all the positives and negatives. If it doesn't work after the next season or two then we can go back to the traditional method. Grant Thomas' idea should be given some time to take full effect. He might be on to something.

I actually like the idea for quite a few reasons. I like it because it expands the leadership group, gives young players something to strive to in the short term not "Id like to be captin when ___ Retires" and it gives the coach many leadership options. I didnt agree with it at first because it is so radical a move but all in all I think it will work well for us.
