Well, with the Freo upset, it changes a few things. We can still conceivably finish 4th, but there isn't a hope in hell that Port will win tomorrow. And St Kilda will beat Essendon.

So, here it is:

If we beat Bulldogs, Sydney beat Brisbane, St Kilda beat Essendon - we play Collingwood at AAMI, Saturday Afternoon.

If we beat Bulldogs, Brisbane beat Sydney, St Kilda beat Essendon - we play Sydney at AAMI, Saturday Night.

If we lose to Bulldogs, Sydney beat Brisbane, St Kilda beat Essendon - we play St Kilda at TD, Saturday Afternoon.

If we lose to Bulldogs, Brisbane beat Sydney, St Kilda beat Essendon - we play Collingwood at MCG, Saturday Afternoon.

Basically, home final if we win, away against "bogey" teams if we lose. The best scenario would be us winning and Brisbane beating Sydney.

Excellent work. Most impressed. I'm sure a few strange things will still happen before the weekend is out.

Wouldn't mind facing Saints at Dome in finals - we could not play as poorly as we did last week. Collingwood at the "G" is a worry.

Better to finish either 5th or 8th (if you can't get 4th). That way you avoid Geelong until GF day providing you keep on winning. 6th or 7th plays Geelong in a preliminary final if they get over Roos the second week (yes, the Kangas won't beat Geelong in the first week)

6th or 7th winner plays the Bulldogs or Hawks in week 2, not teh Kangas.

Yes but the winner of week two plays Geelong in the Preliminary final. 5th or 8th is the way to go as the winner of that match does play Kangas in week 2 and if successful against Kangas then plays the winner of Hawks vs Bulldogs in week 3.

Let's assume Sydney will beat Brisbane and St Kilda will beat Essendon.

That means we'll either finish 4th*, 5th or 8th.

So win or lose, we'll be in the better half of the finals draw.

(*we can hope...)

Great work all...

Tonights loss by Collingwood does breathe a glimmer of hope into our finals campaign.

Even though the GF is still a massive long shot, assuming of course we win in week one it's certainly better finishing 5th/8th (likely play NM, then Haw/WB, then Geel) as opposed to 6th/7th (likely play WB/Haw, Geel...the road likely ends here).

Go Por .. no, I can't say that.

Lets just hope we win and let the cards fall where they do.

C'mon in times of desperation at this time of year we have to give our all for the betterment of our ladder position, no matter the personal cost or humiliation...

GO POWE....

nah, I can't say it either.:p

Its just like a tounge twister :o

But really.. I think this will be the one and only time I go for Port.. unless we are in the situation again some other time

I hate Saturday Afternoon Finals at AAMI Stadium, especially if its against Collingwood. Bad descision by the AFL. I think it will be a much better idea to play Collingwood at AAMI on Saturday Night - where you'll get a massive crowd in and the night game increases our chances at winning. A final against Collingwood on Saturday Night at AAMI almost garuntees 50,000. Day game will be lucky to get 42,000.

But I'm confident that Port will beat North Melbourne tommorow so we can get the top 4.

I think a home final against Sydney will be perfect for us, just perfect.

It will be tough beating Collingwood, they'll be keen to bounce back especially at AAMI. But if we play St Kilda at TD on Saturday Afternoon, with the roof open. Its Goodbye Crows.

Two questions

1) How do we know when our final will be even if we know the results of the games this week?

2) Why are we trying to avoid Geelong? We need to beat them to win it right>

Supplementary - I assume you all know we are nowhere near good enough to win a flag?

LMAO!

I tipped Freo tonight - more out of hope than anything else. A good way to start the weekend that is for sure! :thumbsu: Well, our finals path is well and truly in our own hands. Win, and we are guaranteed a home final at some stage (either next week if we finish 5th, or the week after if we finish 4th and lose to Geelong OR the week after that if we beat them ;)).

Yeah I'd like to know what pjcrows is basing his assumptions on. Here's my figuring:

My best guess is that the elimination finals will both be afternoon games. Reason being that it gives their second week top-4 opponents an extra day's rest on them, as they'll play the night before. The qualifying finals will also rate better for television, so all the more reason to stage them at night.

I also reckon that St Kilda will play on the Sunday, because they're the only top-8 side that plays this Sunday.

If I'm right, that means we're looking at either:

a) Saturday afternoon vs Collingwood at Football Park
b) Sunday afternoon vs St Kilda at MCG

I think Port can win tommorow, just have a funny feeling about it. And I'm hoping that Essendon can beat St Kilda on Sunday. Strange things can happen in the AFL.

Now all WE have to do is WIN! :thumbsu:

The potentional away game vs St Kilda will be at the TD, not the MCG.

I'm usually not very confident about playing Port but I really think we will come out and rip them apart tomorrow. A number of guys are playing for a spot in the finals side, probably the closest we have been to full strength for two years now.
