Prediction The secret of happiness as a football fan? LOWER your expectations.

winning a final is the absolute minimum, agreed

I think we have gone from winning a final as a pass mark to much higher expectations since we recruited how we did.

We have even had suggestions Woosh contract extension relies on a top 4

its feels like its the solid expectation now.

for me the failings we had last year are still there - doubled down by losing jobe - countered by bringing in smith and stringer - but do they match a brownlow medalists inside output?

Jobe wouldn't have been in my top 75 players last year. As much as I respect and loved him as a player, he was cooked by the end.

Agree our midfield grunt is still an issue but confident that

- parish will improve
- smith will add depth and class
- stringer can add grunt when in middle
- McGrath will make a significant contribution to midfield

Heppell for me is a massive key. Played some really good footy at times but was inconsistent by A grade midfielder standards. I'd love to see him follow a cotchin route. Less about kicks marks and handballs, more about turning a 20 / 80 ball into a break even etc

I cut my teeth a long time ago at the ponds institute, spent all day walking around in a lab coat with a clip board creating pie charts and powerpoint presentations pretending we were inventing ground breaking new ways of hydrating old ladies faces while actually syphoning their measily pensions.

Eventually i broke away as i didnt really agree with their branch of socialist dogma and formed my own institute.

The day I walked from those frosted ponds institute doors and back into the real world was a revelation. Sure I came out semi re-tarded but I also had a purpose, and i had soft supple skin that bounced back when pushed, a deeply hydrated an enriched epidermal layer that actually made me look younger and more vibrant.

....and now im here, founder and custodian of the institute of moon, population one.
If this was a who am I - i'd answer Donald Trump - and not just because of the semi re-tarded with a purpose bit.

he probably didn't need to be in the top 75 players

but he did 2 things irrespective of form

1 - usually occupied one of the opposing teams better mids
2- was a big body in the stoppage, unseen blocking garners no stats

Great article from the Moon Institute.
I will list it down as my first preference!

I agree about Heppell. Great player but needs to influence contests.
All the guys we have earmarked to replace Jobe (Smith, Parish, Pidge) are nowhere near his size. (Stringer if he gets fit enough?)
The guys we want to play there are a little undersized and we're only hoping that Langers, Laverde make huge inroads to be able to run through there for extended periods.
I agree with Howard's post above:
Undersized mids will be cast aside when the real heat comes on - picture JP Kennedy, Martin, Parker, Selwood! That's where we have to get to...

bump...

I have been quite happy with our year so far!!

I'm seeing more melts around me than a subway store....mostly from people who expected we would walk over Freo

temper them expectations ya'll, you'll have a happier year.

Looking forward to us running through the banner without getting stuck or tripping over this week!!!!

I’m expecting a winless season and club collapse by year’s end. I wouldn’t be at all surprised if we had an air crash in the Andes and our players had to eat each other. The saga is also only just beginning despite us thinking we’re through the worst.

Here’s Howie with the weather...
As a reference, I have quoted myself.

I believe that I may be the only person satisfied with our season seeing as even if the rest of my expectations come to fruition I can at least be content with our 2 colossal victories against the SA teams. Yay.

It would be a lovely bonus if our players somehow didn’t eat each other in the Andes.

I think Dyson Heppell would be better suited to be a good right hand man to a captain instead of actually being one himself

Dys would be a 'good cop' if he were partnered with a 'bad cop' as captain, a noice one two punch combo
There is no one else for the job, if jobe were playing then pretty sure he would have been the captain of the ship =o[
