I did notice that, but thought maybe he could post something while they were replaying an interview or something like that. Surely the staff don't just sit still while they aren't on air.

I have always taken the approach that people would rather hear the experts talk about topics and not myself. If people wanted to always hear me talk, then I would'nt have the experts .

this is not about experts this is about BP and Rob, Luke and nearly every other one being a better sports person to be in charge and to ask better and smarter questions of the experts.I have rang you a couple of times and i raised topics and our phone call was over in a few minutes , I raised things when BP was on and he spoke about the issue for ten minutes discussing it with me and relating examples and facts.
You seem to say to callers " sorry i didnt see that game , no i didnt read that , no i didnt catch that, no i havent been able to look that up , BP never seems to have to cover himself in this way!
This crap about letting the experts do the talking well go get a job as a crash test dummy then , you just sit there on your lazy ass and and think thats what we want to hear.
If Watson , KB , Mark , FRancis , Finey , beva all took that attitude of sitting back and let the experts do the talking the whole sen thing would be crap , this is about making overnight as good as the rest of the day for those of us that listen to sen 24/7.
BP or the others would be a better host fullstop.
and if it is you keep on posting as it makes you look more of a fool and if more sen people read this then maybe they will see that as well .

Just because Tony didn't bore his audience by speakin to you for 10 minutes is no reason for you to be a rude prick. Personally I hate it when hosts talk to one caller for too long as if they're interviewing an expert or sportsman.

It's definitely Tony, he posts on the World Sport Overnight forum as well. Good to see you're taking some of the criticism on board Tony - some of it is harsh, some of it is maybe relevant, but it's good that you've listened!

Thanks Ghost, you carry the name of one of the greats of our club. Ohhh the good old days....

Unless listening to a specilised program I also like to hear the host as the facilitator especially with a general talkback program. And that is how I have tried to offer my program, as one that I would also like to listen to if I was out there. Happy we can keep you informed in another part of the world.

You may want to read the other posts in this thread I've wrote regarding your presenting (it seems to have been a hot topic) - be warned, some of it is scathing, particularly the comments about your anti-St Kilda bias towards Peaky (yeah, I admit it's funny when he gets worked up). I've also bagged your lack of general sporting knowledge - you'll cut calls short ("good on ya mate") when a topic is raised that you have no idea about. But blokes like Harding, BP, Luke and Mark always seem to be well-equipped to answer just about any question on even the most obscure topics in sport (or the most obscure AFL players). Sometimes Tony, you'll pretend to know what's going on and provide a simple "yeah" response, but it's poorly covered.

I just think you need to work on your sporting knowledge, even if you do have other commitments. You always seem quick to criticise Peaky at every opportunity when he puts his neck on the line with genuine, thought out predictions, but he leaves you alone when you make comments that turn out to be wrong. If you're going to criticise, at least have the decency to admit when you're wrong. Peaky does my head in sometimes with his idiocy, but there have been occasions where you have been dead wrong but attacked him (there's one that comes to mind where you were going off at Peaky who said the Cats didn't finish top 4 in 2005, whereas you thought they did. I don't remember what the point of the argument was, but you got pretty heated for nothing and turned out to be wrong...which comes back to your sporting knowledge).

On the plus side, I've mentioned in my other posts that you've got a great voice for radio and you're a top announcer. Also, I think your rapport with co-hosts is always very good, probably better than BP who seems to stand back a bit. The Gladiators of Sport is very entertaining and while I think it misses the nagging comedy of a Zantuck or the Ring of Fire boys, it's still great and you've been a big part of why it is so. The non-sporting banter you add to the show is also great, even a highlight. On your own, I think your show goes through the motions, and it's when you're in a team that you do your best work.

Despite the strengths and weaknesses of the show, it's damn good radio. Despite my criticisms of you Tony, generally I think you do a good job, even though I rate BP's professionalism higher; if I didn't think you were a good host, I wouldn't keep listening like I have since the station started. If you can though, see if you can take these long winded comments on board and maybe get something out of it to improve the show.

I reckon you should get the Ring of Fire boys in the studio for a night a week with you Tony - those guys were hilarious

I loved the Ring of Fire guys too! they really used to make me laugh, which was sometimes a problem, wouldn't get much sleep! As I was new to SEN then, I never knew who they were (individually)

My North , its BP this week much better show as I have said and he is not just filling in for Tony he is sending a message to Tony and SEN as to how he thinks the WSO should be by making a few changes .
No Tony's jokes on Wacky Wednesday that was flicked this morning instead a new panel called the Wed Warriors who were good.
The big thing is he has flicked Tonys mates from the Fedish bar saying already a few times to texts and callers that they wont be on whilst he is on I dont think he likes them on WSO and obviously thinks they are a waste of time otherwise why would he have every other night the same but not have them on...take notice Tony !
Hope like Essendon did with Sheedy today that SEN also make a hard call and replace Tony with BP from now on .
He also has a few listeners coming into SEN to be there with him and the gladiators ( i almost won the chance but got the quiz wrong with only a few callers to go , they should do this more often as i would like to go in with BP )

When you listened last night to BP and Stoney mentioning facts and stats to anything thrown at them you wonder why Tony needs to even be there as he doesnt add anything to the conversation.

I am at Uni and listen when doing study and prep till I crash out and just think that BP is the better WSO host full stop.
Tony just keeps talking crap he was going on this morning to a caller about how Brisbane has a big chance to make the 8 because of their big percentage they are on 38 pts with a draw FFSake.
its like playing the first version of Warcraft when you can have the latest and best on your laptop , BP is just smarter , better and should replace Tony.

To be fair mate, there are plenty of other commentators saying the same thing. Anthony Hudson, Robert Walls are a couple that come to mind. Tony has a very good point, that win against the pies was like an 8 pointer. Stop having a go at Tony for no reason. Fair enough you like BP better but its lookin like you are obsessed.
