A while back, Konami asked fans over Facebook what Konami classic would they like to see released on XBLA and one of our most wanted just might be it. @lifelower sent us a tip that an Australian ratings board rated The Simpsons Arcade Game with Backbone Entertainment as the Author possibly meaning they’re the developer. Could it mean that one of the best arcade beat-em up’s based on The Simpsons is finally coming to XBLA? Cross your yellow fingers that it’s true as more news develops on XBLAfans.

Would be awesome if true, great game.

If this is true, this would be like the holy grail in terms of having virtually every classic game from my youth - re-released in some form.

Chase HQ would be the last one.

I think I remember playing this in Timezone as a kid. Remember a birthday party playing it and Virtua Tennis non-stop.

Anyone got vids of the game footage so I can confirm it's what I played? If so it'd be awesome to see return (hopefully to PSN too).

Remember always going Bart first as he had the slightly more ranged attack and better movement with his skateboard.

You can get in on MAME roms if you wanna play the original . . i assume the XBOXL version will be very different?

The turtles one looked like a straight port from the original coin-op, guessing the simpsons game will be the same.

Not 100% sure, but you would think so.

XBL version will be the same as the arcade.

What I would have liked to see is for them to do to this as what they did with Monkey Island. In that pressing a button would transfer the game from the retro graphics to the modern version. With the modern version they could replace some of the miscellaneous characters with some of the popular characters introduced after the game was created.

Got this last night, played through the first two stages then had to go to bed.

It's pretty obvious it's aged badly, but still enjoyable purely for the nostalgia aspects.

So it's available for PS3 from today. Free for PS+.

Playing through it now...my god it's horrible. There's nearly no redeeming features. Nostalgia is a weird beast.

I think I'm gonna put a ban on buying anything that's more than the PS2 era old as it just doesn't age well at all.

I'm glad it was free, otherwise I'd be asking for my money back.

Yep, I finished one run through and stopped playing.

Interesting how back in the day people found doing the same thing for 30+ minutes fun!
