Given the only reason you're using the word `princess' as an insult is because it means you think women are no good/weak/not tough, then yeah thats shit mate.

There are so many ways you can insult Dangerfield if you really must, why do you have to bring women/femininity into it.
One last thing, before I exit stage left. The physical differences are there, and can't be denied. Give me the most hardcore females player, then give me a hospital ball between her and Dixon. It only ends in one way.

Why drag all this shit up?
Because its been digging at me for a while (and as we see, other people too), and I felt like I'd had enough.

I miss diversity in our posters. I don't see the need for blokes to throw around sexist stuff about women that makes it hard to stay here. This place is for football, and Port Adelaide.

Are you bored because it's the off-season? I mean yeah the occasional comment that could be viewed as sexist gets thrown around, but this board is pretty tame. I don't see the need to play fun police. I'm not having a crack at you, this time, I just do not understand your reasoning behind starting a crusade that is never going to lead anywhere.
Mate do you legitimately think you're being asked to do something that you either can't do, or that would require an unreasonably large huge effort to do? Thats really all we need to know.

Its not a big ask.

See thats wrong. Dangerfield is being called a princess here because people think he's precious, a bit whimpy like a princess, or a prince. Has nothing to do with femininity at all or implying woman are less then men. It's a footy insult thrown by fans and has been for a long time. Hell I've heard my Mum, sister, girlfriend and female friends all throw the same insult at the footy or watching the footy. Now I doubt woman are sexist against themselves.

I get your original point, I think the vast majority of us do and take it on board. But you can't throw that at another poster over a football term that has been around longer then any of us.

Give me a hospital ball between Jake Neade and Dixon. It only ends in one way.

Anyway, that's besides the point. Did you really come into this thread, read the OP and think: I really need to debate this, because my right to say dumb sexist shit is essential to my experience on BigFooty. ?

Why is the word "prince" never used then?

It's literally easier to use too.

It's the same as how players who are "precious" are called girls. Just like how Ollie saying "we played like girls" is something that isn't on.

It being used as an insult by women or for a long time doesn't change that.

Mate, when I was in Year 3 we called everyone a M***a, a slur with a proudly South Australian heritage. You don't do it. You grow up.

**** is a word from middle English, is that excused for general use too? Whore, campaigner, take your pick.

Slurs being traditional is not exactly a justification for their ongoing use.

How would I know I dare say most of the terms we all use at the footy, talking footy or whatever we've all picked up off our parents at some point. We'd have to ask them

Are you though?

Get back to me with something I might say that would genuinely offend you for your hypothetical then try again
No I wasn't, I'm just trying to say that I could of been offended by it. If you had written it to someone else they probably would have been offended by it etc Isn't that reason enough to have never have written it at all? Like I said before practice what you preach

Yeah mate I'm done with this if you can't come up with a real example, but you know what? I'll be kind, and take you straight to the punchline.

Anything that you might post as a hypothetical of something that you would personally find highly offensive, what I will say is: report it. I am not immune to having my posts reported, or immune from being pinged for it, or immune from saying stupid shit sometimes. Go for it. Report it. If it is real, report it. If it is not real, I don't care, we're done mate. Cheers.

If you think I'm a weasel that wants to manipulate rules for my exclusive benefit, you really don't know a single thing about me.

I'm raising a daughter and live with 2 woman so I see your point and fully understand what your saying here, I get what you want with how this forum can behave at times from what I've read in this thread.

The word **** in general is thrown around a hell of alot, or it is here in Perth. It shouldn't be but it is, dunno why just is used as a throwaway insult in Perth anyway, I can't speak for Adelaide in that regard I don't live there.

If there's a easy way to change people's behaviors it's raising awareness to it as you've done so that's a start. No guarantee all will change, some may which is a start.

My original point with the princess gibe is everyone male or female in my experience has picked it up from either their parents or who they associate with watching footy. It can be taken as sexist that's fine, but trying to stop people using the term is going to be hard, as with the under current of racism in this country alot of its inherited behavior and very hard to change.

PS- I'm not implying anyone is racist or sexist in the last paragraph it's just a generalization of this issue being raised in the context of society as a whole as I see it.

It could've been real (that's all I'm trying to say, not that you care anyway), fortunately I'm not a whining PC baby like some other people who take offence to every little thing that's said on the Internet

I cant spell, people give me shit , I don't care.

If we need to think about everything we post and work out if it may offended someone it would become a pritty boring place.

If you don't like something, vent.

As Portia has, I get what you are saying but as I have said before we all have different moral compass's for different issues.

Mate, you're carrying on about being asked not to be sexist.

Whining babies on the internet are taking cues from you.

Lets not forget pafc have a huge amount of women/girl supporters, more female then male if i remember correctly , so lets try and watch how we speak about women , portia is not asking for a lot just to watch what you post and to not make it outback australia in the early 1900's for women on bigfooty

Interesting topic. Good for you Portia for standing up for what you believe in. I'd just like to say to people that when a person is offended the best thing to do is to have empathy. Instead of pushing your own agenda there is a chance to walk in someone else's shoes and look at life from a different perspective. It would be frustrating for someone to pour their heart out and not be heard.

Portia has basically asked for two things.

> don't be a slimeball
> be nice to others

Why the **** is this even such a big deal? It's not hard, it's not an encroachment on your freedom of speech, it's called not being a campaigner.
