I dont know if someone has brought it up before(havent been on for a few weeks) but i think its got to be in a few people's minds..

and its not t#ts.. its tanking..

I think it needs to be done to a certain extent.. In a subtle way. We are a mess at the moment and we have to concentrate for the future.

Its a chance to make a full assessment of our list..

We shouldn't play to lose yet i think we should start playing guys regularly like Murphy, dunn, campbell, duffield, shammer etc in a last ditch effort to see what they can do.
In a way put there careers on the line..
We have to start to figure out and settle our list ..
A few extra wins in the long run are not going to do anything..
Just a few less chances in the draft..
I dont believe its even tanking though, its just getting organized for the future.
We have the chance to build a exciting list in the next four years or so..
We are off to a good start with types like palmer, ibbo, mayne etc..
Sacrifices need to be made..
Im sick of finishing between 9th to 13th..
Its where we've been consistently since 95..

Looking in the short term gets you nowhere we have to look to the future (even connolly wasn't really looking to the future with his susceptible trades when he declared his 3yr plan phase)

Consider it..

Dont be totally dismissive and naive..

Also another thing the more we play warnock the less were going to get on trade week.
He's average

Oh dear...

Its an opinion chops, 'oh dear' is a pretty weak one

I believe we have to make sacrifices, we cant keep continuing this cycle.. Its becoming predictable..

Were going to win four or five of the next ten games( mostly at home).. Finish 13th or 14th and it will begin again. I dont want us to go through the journey like we did from 95-01 and 02-08 again..

94 and after 2001, we had brilliant opportunities to build a fantastic list. We looked to the short term

Since we will need to pick up about 8-10 players at the end of the year it's in our best interests to get the best players we can with our picks.

It's in our best interests to get as many better than 3rd round picks as we can.

In any case, I can't see us winning too many more games anyway, so it really doesn't matter.

I reckon we've all seen enough of what Schammer can do. Not that keen on Murph also.
Agree about the rest

It would not bother me to see them resting bell, black (hopefully Macca has played his last game), Mark Johnson and the Wiz in favour of getting some games into the younger ones on our list.

How would we be able to tell the difference?

Best for Harvey to use the year to get his coaching sorted out, and the team playing at least some semblance of decent football. Much better upside than tanking.

Thank you the Gav. I was reading this thinking, you mean we have a choice to lose? Putting what the highly paid professionals consider the best team out and trying to win hasn't put too many points in the for column. We lost to Melbourne FFS, the team many would have as the worst team of the century. We couldn't do any worse if we tried to.

what club with a shred of pride would tank? what example does that set for future seasons? this thread disgusts me...

Have we elevated anyone from the rookie list to replace Haselby? (assuming he is on the long term injury list)

It would be good to see some of the rookies get a game, and would be the kind of things a 'rebuilding' team does. Still not taking but getting experience to younger players. Becuase as it stands I think if we don't start laying Chris Smith we will lose him the the Gold Coast, see what the kid has got and then sign him before the new team comes along or it's another wasted rookie

Financial reasons... and not up to it...

Not getting a game at WAFL league... aint gonna get a game in AFL...

Dunn should be trialled if he is fit. He is a mature body, though obviously fragile. Either he breaks down, and is gone, or is not played and is gone. The other alternative is that he has something to offer.

The financial argument does not wash for me. Can you explain it please?

Could have kept him on the list as he's contracted. But stops us from having to pay for another rookie on top of other player payments. May well have been placed there for salary cap reasons, but who knows?

If Harvey had of wanted him, he would have kept him listed. Simple. If management thought our list was good, they wouldn't have seen a point in rookies... Has done nothing at WAFL, and for someone with so many years of leg injuries, has no upper body at all. Would have been that sort of work ethic that saw him dumped most likely.

Surely if we were going to tank then we would not make any changes to the side we are running with week in and week out now.We can't win a game as it is so why change the team.

Well to trial others to see if they are up to it !!!!
It would be called research and development!!!

All very speculative, and based on nothing at all Chops. I would be amazed if they could not pay out Dunn's contract and find the 40k or whatever for a rookie spot. More liekely they thought he was as good a chance as other options for the Rookie list, who after all are speculative selections by defitinition. Dunn as a number 5 pick gone very wrong (Hi Mr Smart) is surely worth that.

I don't think we even have our rookie list filled.

But they knew what they were getting with Dunn... a lot of injuries yes, but no work ethic. Harvey would have seen enough of him based on that.

Just doesn't look good when you get rid of so many players at once mid contract...
