I'm not taking much notice of that as the game isn't until Sunday and there are so many questions that need to be answered -

Will Hille win his appeal?
Will J.Johnson play?
Will Bradley play?

Good to see Monfries back in. Disappointed for Thomas but he will go back and star in the vfl and be back.

given that Hille, JJ and Bradley all play the interchange imho would likely be NLM, Alvey, Stanton and Monfries. Carts in if Hille's appeal fails.

Plenty of midfield run that way

I think we might go the other way and go tall and keep at least one of Hille and Laycock in the forward line at all times. Meaning Cartledge, Laycock and one of Hille/Henno will play.

Worked for Richmond.

possibly, quite possibly. It's an interesting one because I can see the value of it however our biggest concerns are to do with sustaining our midfield. Roll the dice

It is a roll of the dice.
However, we can't match Freo's midfield even if we did have a couple extra on the bench.
Whereas the extra tall could really do some damage.

Do we play the extra midfielder and try and maybe break even, or play the extra tall and accept we will probably get beaten in the middle but hope that makes the difference?

Tall blokes don't get any smaller when the midfielders get tired.

Worked for Richmond because Polak and Haddrill were injured, and so was matty carr, so our midfield and backline were totally undermanned and we couldnt win the ball out of the centre or cover their forwards when they got it down there.

Good to see Winderlich gets another game.

I doubt Cupes will play but being considered will give him some confidence at least.

From that bench Stanton would have to be a certainty after last week, with LM to stay on too, and i can't imagine Sheeds would drop Henno...i guess i hope Alvey gets the last spot. That would give us quite a versatile bench.

- If Hille and Laycock play, they shouldnt play Henneman. Dont mind Cartledge but definitely not Henneman.
- Cant believe they aint dropping Murphy. If he continually f*cks up again, they better drop him
- Im actually a fan of Cupido despite his lackluster form. I hope he can kick it into a second gear and actually be productive. Needs to get his mind right and his ability should take him there
- They shouldnt play McPhee on Pavlich. Hopefully they give Welsh the job, i think he could do alright. If not Bolton, but his another that continually f8cks up
- Id like to see NLM be given more time at HB, i think he could be good
- From that bench id like to see em take in NLM, Alvey, Monfries and Stanton. Dont think cupes will get a game above them and i dont think we need more than 2 ruckman.
- Any word on the fitness of Kepler Bradley or Jason Johnson? I dont wanna see either on be pulled out on the day. Also how long till either Solly or Jimmy or return?

Welsh? That's one out of left field for me, he's smaller than McPhee!

I wouldn't think Polak would play would he?
And if he had of played against Richmond would he have stopped a Richo, Stafford or Simmonds?

The fact is, your midfield is your absolute strength and we can't match it.
Your forward line with McPharlin up there is very good.
A defence without McPharlin in it, is your definate weakness. Our best option is to exploit it. Polak is a fine young player, but Scott Lucas is a seasoned, top-line forward. Haddrill is a solid defender, as is Parker, but Matthew Lloyd is in the top forwards in the competition.
Jason Laycock is 200cm and built like a brick outhouse, has sticky hands and is very tough to match-up on.
Regardless of Hadrill and Polak's inclusion, our best bet is to stack our forward line and hope we get enough ball down there.

How the hell do Henno, Bolts and Murph still gets spots in the team while Paul Thomas gets dropped?

Absolutely ridiculous.

Thommo didn't have his best game but I couldn't agree more. One day selection will wake up I guess. At least Bullen was out.

If Thommo aint gunna get a game and Wilbur doesn;t get promoted and Nash falls out of favour all 3 are VERY WELCOME to come back where they belong at Centrals.

Richmond have an in form and dominant midfield. No disrespect to the blokes lining up for us but they dont take control of the game like the tigers midfielders have been. It is no use loading up the forward line if you aren't delivering the pill well and often.

We need to include as many runners as possible and keep some fresh rotations. We have beaten the dockers in the past by getting in first and winning the ball.

If we can win enough ball then Lucas and Lloyd should be enough up forward for talls. Laycock can stroll down there to rest every now and then but we need to give lloyd all the room he wants. Haddrill wont go with him on a lead if we can deliver the football half decent and Parker cant compete with Lloyd physically....he needs space and plenty of it.

Pev needs to do a job..enough of this free wheeling rubbish. Pev is at his best when he cuts out an opponent then gets 15 to 20 possesions himself. We dont need him kick chasing getting mid twenty possesions because his man usually runs amok and Pev just doesnt hurt teams with his possesions.

We need to use the quick kids more, when players are running off half back and licha or lovett are free for god sake give it to them and let them run. We have a nasty habit of ignoring the kids and kicking to name players under pressure(Dyson knows about this all to well). We have some pacy weapons just waiting to be exploited.

Should be a decent game and we can win this although im not exactly confident.

Yeah but Pav gets most of his possesions on the lead. They generally aren't contested marks so the height shouldnt be that much of a problem unless they take him to the goal square where we'd have to reshuffle. That would be a win for us anyway as it would keep Pav away from their half forward area.

At least Welsh has the ability to run with Pav and stay with him, similar to how he played on Caracella on Anzac day (yes I know u cant compare Pav to Caracella but u get the idea)

I think its best not to give McPhee a damaging opponent so he can run off and do what he wants and be the 3rd man up in defence and also provide run off half back like he did last week

Here's an idea.

Lets find out exactly how good Kepler Bradley is and play him on Pavlich.

We have all screamed in the past that kids aren't played in their positions when they come into the side. If Kepler is going to develop into a long CHB, lets play him on the best now.

Putting our CHB on their CHF.....hmmm?......Absolute genius Longy. ;)

Seriously though i agree with you..i reckon Kepler would thrive on the challenge.

Mcphee would be quicker and likely fitter than Welsh though too. Welsh is generally for small forwards imo. If you don't want to play McPhee on him fair enough but I don't think Welsh is the answer.
