Only two teams in the history of the VFL/AFL have won a flag + had the Coleman Medallist (or leading goal-kicker) + Brownlow Medallist all in the one season: Geelong and Colonwobble

Is history about to repeat for one of these teams?

Currently:

Geelong have the equal-highest goal-kicker (Jizza), a Brownlow favourite (Headband Man) and a good chance of winning the premiership

Floggingwad have the equal-highest goal-kicker (Jamie Smelliot), a Brownlow favourite (the Uncontested Man), and sit on top of the ladder.

We await the finals to see if one of these teams can pull off the ultimate whitewash.

Of course, the Mudpies will have to overcome their finals nemesis Geelong to get anywhere near achieving this unique treble while the Mighty Cats bide their time until their perennial September appearance.

‘Retrospectively’ being the operative word. Maybe the AFL should also grant Geelong an extra 7 premierships ‘retrospectively’ given that the VFA was the premier footy competition prior to the formation of the VFL in 1897. Fair’s fair
