The Walkmen

Hi people,

Does anyone else really like The Walkmen here? I think their last two albums You and Me & Lisbon have been modern day classics. Both albums have been on repeat on my Ipod for sometime now and I particuarly love their spread of influences from 50's New Orleans Jazz, to the Sun Studio rockabilly era, to mariachi music, to 50s dancehall ballads and so on.

Anyone else share the same love for The Walkmen as I do?

Love them.

The Rat is one of my all time favourite songs. Also a huge fan of In the New Year from You & Me.

Lisbon's probably my favourite album of theirs.

Lisbon is just a fantastic album. A lot of people haven't given it a chance, because it is not immediate. But repeated listens of the record and things begin to make sense. One of the albums of 2010 and every bit as good as The Nationals High Violet or The Suburbs by Arcade Fire also released that year.

Better. The Walkmen absolutely rock. These clips show how well they play individually and collectively without the gloss of studio production. Awesome sound.

They are very good musicians. God I love "Blue As Your Blood"

I think my 3 favourite albums last year in order would have been

1. The National - High Violet
2. The Walkmen - Lisbon
3. Arcade Fire - The Suburbs

My favourite Walkmen album is probably still You & Me, then followed very closely by Lisbon. I played You and Me at least once a day all the way through for about 9 months at one point I reckon!
