The war against renewable energy

Oh look … Batteries killing gas.

They used 34% gas over the last 3 months.
FACT.

Your article is about what happened one sunny windy day.

Battery use equates to something like 3%.

The GOOD thing about Gas , its pretty easy to turn on and off.

As more batteries come online, more solar will be produced with out more panels even being installed because of less curtailment.

Apparently AEMO does not include rooftop solar in it's calculations.
It can only be estimated, If you have rooftop solar, you aren't telling anyone how much you are using. Only what you export. But its odd , that even with the estimated rooftop, the figures don't seem to correlate , or maybe they sort of do.

What does correlate is that Nut's claim that Battery power is putting gas out of business, is well off the mark,

There is about 2% battery discharge to the grid in S.A. Not the kind of impact you've been insinuating at all.

Open:NEM estimates solar rooftop production. If you add the Open:NEM estimates for rooftop solar into the AEMO calculations it is pretty close.

At 7pm on 9 September, 67% of SA's electricity generation came from gas. 6.9% from battery discharge.

45% of our demand is being generated by wind atm, it's just profitable enough for the gas turbines to be exporting atm.

At 10am on 9 September, 120%+ of SA's electricity generation came from renewables.

At 6am on 6th September, Wind accounted for 150% of SA's electricity so SA should tear down all of their solar panels and disconnect their batteries. It's wind or bust.

I'm just showing that focussing on a moment in time is just stupid.

It's hilarious watching and reading the gyrations of Sky, Murdoch gutter "journalists", Alexander Downer, John Howard etc etc over renewables and net zero.

First of all, most of those imbeciles don't know what net zero means and those that do but still bang on about how "bad" it is, are pissing in the wind. By the time the LNP may, and I repeat MAY, be in a position to form Government, Australia's energy will be supplied by over 82% renewables.

The last election has made Downer, Bolt, Howard, Joyce etc irrelevant. They are nothing more than an irritation.

By the end of this decade, a second heavy-duty power cable running between Tasmania and Victoria as part of the Marinus Link will be completed and provide 750,000 households with 100% renewable electricity.

The Energy Connect SA/NSW (with a spur to Red Cliffs Victoria) power link will hopefully be complete by the end of 2026 supplying 240,000 households.

The pricks that are attacking net zero and renewables are firing blanks. When the electorate hears LNP and commentators/"journalists" attack net zero, they hear and see climate change deniers.

Changes coming to building regs in the next 6-12 months regarding EV cars and storage in commercial class buildings.

Likely bans until remedial works are completed to comply.

Link? And yes I googled it and read a few of the top hits that seemed likely.

This statement seems pretty ignorant too.
Victoria is importing electricity from Tasmania as we speak. The issue with the existing link is that the single cable only allows one way electricity flow. In the past it was mainly used by Tasmania to utilize Victoria's coal electricity. Now, they have enough Wind and Hydro, that the cable is just about always working in the opposite direction.

BUT : If Victoria want to utilize the pumped Hydro storage being planned in Tasmania, a two way link is necessary. T Like Norway, their Water resources vs population is favourable. They can generate up to 2600Mw. Victoria uses up to 9000. THERE WILL BE DRY YEARS THOUGH. Hydro storage is a good solution though.

The changes seem to be related to the electrical installations of the chargers , and wiring regulations for new buildings to facilitate such chargers.

I found this too but it doesn't really align with what they posted.

More costs of the war on renewable energy.
Fortunately for sensible folks the places most at risk are in QLD, where the LNP want to adopt a 'burn baby, burn' philosophy in total denial of climate change and the risk of rising sea levels. If your houses floods in a the next few decades time remember the folks who told you climate change is crap and want to do nothing to reduce C02 emissions.

Its not what they do in the state that causes the global warming. Its GLOBAL. If Queensland emitted ZERO CO2, they would still be at the same risk of sea level rise.

On a personal note, how do you all cope with how ****ed we are? The shops are open, trains are running on time, we put our kids through school like they’re going to have a normal life, etc. The world just carries on like we aren’t headed for this global cataclysm.

Pretty sure widespread panic and hysteria isn't going to help.

Fair enough. I’ll just chill on the subject. Phew.
Feel free to stop using any dirty lectricity out of principle, and do whatever you can to stop the USA and China. Otherwise, sending your kids to school is probably still a good thing.
