Ok guys,

We have got to the break 10 and 2, with quite a long injury list. We have travelled all over the country side and we have kept winning. We are heading into the 2nd half of the season sitting very nicely, with 7 out of our last 10 at home. What i am interested in is:

A: Who do you think will be available for round 13 (off the injury list)

B: Will Macca have the surgery?

C: Does Roo only need the 1 week off?

D: Has Bock started running yet?

E: Your opinion on how we should manage Roo for the end of season

Thanks

A: I wouldn’t expect many players to return after the break, Welsh is probably the closest of the lot, but he needs a good 2-3 weeks in the SANFL to get back the feel of the game and some fitness. Clarke will be available but I don’t see him coming back into the side, there is no need for him. He adds nothing to the side.

B: I don’t think Macca will have the surgery. The way he’s been playing and especially his performance tonight, I don’t see the need to. However knowing that Macca could slow down come Finals time scares me, so I would be all for Macca missing a week or two if it means he’s healthy for the Finals.

C: The camera showed Roo after the game tonight and he could barely walk. There’s no doubt he’s in a lot of pain, and I think with two weeks off he should be feeling much better when it’s time to face Geelong. And for E, I think Roo will spend the majority of time up forward, I can’t see him in the middle too often, it's just too demanding.

D: I don’t know, Channel Nine’s Doc said he’s available, but we all know that’s rubbish. I think he’s running again, which is a good sign but he’s still a long way off returning.

Round 13

Mathew Clarke will come in for Ivan Maric (much too some poster chagrin)
Brett Burton will come in for Bernie Vince

Round 14

We could see Scott Welsh (2 weeks) pushing for AFL selection

Round 16

Nathan Bock (2 week before he is running and another 3 week in the SANFL) and Ian Perrie (4 weeks and should come straight in) should be available

Round 17

Ben Hart (5 weeks) should be pushing for selection.

Round 20

Ben Hudson should be playing SANFL (if the club approves it as he really wants to play)

OHHHHHHHHHHHHHH yeahhhhhhhhh
Vintage McLeod, wasn't it?

Nevertheless, if it means McLeod is better come finals time, then I would rather he has any surgery and a couple of weeks off right now.

If Welsh comes in, how does he fit into our forward structure?

If Roo stays up forward, I can't find a spot for Welsh.

If Roo is fit enough to go back to the middle, then Welsh would take that spot IMO

Roo just doesn't look fit enough atm to play in the middle imo. I think the crows would retain his position in the forward line but perhaps maybe Mcgregor go back and Welsh goes forward.

Hmm hard times ahead for Craig!

Surely your not serious .....surely Welsh has to replace Bode in about 6 weeks when he's done A LONG TIME in the SANFL

Welsh, Hart, Perrie, Bock, Burton and possibly Clarke, when fit are all in our best side.

However we need to make sure they are fit and in form when they return to the team.

Burton would come straight in.

Likewise with Hart, most likely.

Welsh, Perrie, Bock and possibly Doc Clarke etc will need to prove their fitness in the SANFL first.

As I said on the thread of "Hard Decisions", atm we have a good balance between wise experienced heads and the excitment and exuberance of youth". It is my opinion that this is the balance you need to enure success.

I would hate to see any AFC team without one or two of VB, Knighter, Vince and Maric this year. In finals in particular these kids can often get under the radar and be key players. Surrounded by experience these kids can often flourish at these times.

We also need ot think about the future. Game time now will be invalauable two or three years down the track when Roo, Edwards, Hart, Goody and Macca are retired or close to retirement.

Yep it is a tough call. If he desperately needs the surgery, do it now while we are top of the table and winning games easily.. he might get another Normy then!

i think a problem of fitting in Welsh,Hart,Perrie,Bock,Torney back into the side is that we lose some pace in the overall structure and become a little top heavy

I would prefer it not to happen.

I think the 3 we have now are capable of covering till 2007

Macca & club appear to be managing the injury OK enough to suggest he can get through the season. He is in vintage form at the moment, so it doesn't appear to be effecting his form.

Roo is more of a concern for me, as he is realy struggling to carry the injury. Assuming Burton come back, I would keep Vince in the side & make the most of the break & rest Roo for a bit. We ned him right for the finals & I can't see him getting better without a decent break.

As for Welsh, Perrie, Bock & Hart - they will all need a solid hitout in the SANFL as they have been out for too long.

I think the club and Mark Ricciuto are trying to get to his 300th ASAP and have it at home, if he is still struggling to recover from his groin soreness and hamstrings after that I think you will find he may miss a week or 2 in the lead up to the finals.

i disagree. bode has gone in harder than anyone this yr. hes really puttin his backside on the line and giving it everything. hes a handy crumber. he has laid a lot of tackles and is good at applying pressure on the defence. (i know welshy has done this really wll in the past also)... but....

after 10 months off, welsh will struggle to see any time in the crows guernsey this yr i reckon.

The priority is getting Roo fit, not his 300th game, or where it is played.

absolutely correct.

there is no way theyd be thinking bout his 300th and where its played - thats plain silly

Craig was asked about Roo on Ch 9 tonight and he said that he is improving each week, and the break will only improve it further.

Nothing to do with the 300, other than it doesn't look like he'll have to miss any games. :thumbsu:
