Big fan of recruiting Jesse White but it throws up a few interesting scenarios this year:

*Puts Quentin Lynch's career in doubt
*Most likely sees Ben Reid to the back-line
*Lachlan Keefe's development could be severely hampered
*If White goes OK in the ruck, Ben Hudson may not see AFL football again

Competition for spots is a positive here - but the Keefe one is a worry for mine. Thoughts?

Ben Reid won't go back to being a perma-back. Adds too much value forward and we can play Reid, Cloke and White in the same forward line.

Looks grim for Huddo though!

Jesse White will be given opportunity at CHF; will struggle. In saying this, will have the odd good game against weaker opposition.

Keeffe is being groomed for a key defensive position, and when White is sent back to the VFL you will see Reid moved to CHF and Keeffe playing CHB.

Can you please explain why you see a nevative impact on Keeffe? Not sure that I follow.

Swap White for Lynch and we're just about on the same page

I think he reckons if White plays, he will take Reid's spot in the forward line. And as a result Reid will take Keefe's spot in centre half back, which will restrict Keeffe from playing in his best position.

I've never got the "White comes in so Reid goes back" thought.

Hine has said quite clearly that White and Lynch (and probably Witts) will be fighting for one spot in 2014 and beyond, the secondary ruck/forward role and that means we still need another tall forward to assist Cloke, especially when that second ruck actually goes in the ruck.

I'm not a fan of Reid playing as a permanent forward but I'm resigned to the fact that he will spend more time up there next year than he did in 2013 seeing as we didn't really try him as a forward till about mid season.

I believe we still need another marking forward option though (is Karnezis the answer?) for the games where we need Reid down back, and there will be plenty of those games, don't worry about that.

As for Jesse, he doesn't have to do much to be better than Lynch was last year, does he?

Does he have the white stuff.....?

Like most, I dont see the contest being White v Reid but White v Lynch. Time will tell...I think we may be surprised how much better an uninjured Lynch could be, he has done more over the long journey than White and has forgotten more forward tricks than Jesse has yet learned. So in short dont write off the Q stick just yet.

Reid is more the third tall/swingman role, and there he really has no competition with Paine gone. I prefer him in the backline personally, along with keeffe and Brown, playing the thrid tall/intercept role in the backline instead of Maxwell, but I cant see that happening this season.

Well I can make a Case Reid was better Forward then Cloke. Reid was very good in front of goal and Coverted very well. Though Reading of Plays need a bit of work.

Looked a better team with both Reid and Cloke in the Forward line.

Though with White Joining I see Reid going back and Forward. Depends on the Match-Ups

Don't think Huddo cares too much about that as he was mentally and physically ready for retirement 2 years ago Bucks asked him to go around again for emergency cases only.

I hope so and I love the guy. If this is the case then the rest of the boys will be performing.

Huddo proved last year that he is part of the boys ruck development who was prepared to put the team first and step aside.

Both Grund's and Witt's loved the guy and stated that he was a fantastic influence and role model.

Agree VP,:thumbsu:

Keeffe has the mobility to play multiple roles although I would like to see him continue to develop in the back half.

If fit Keeffe will be one the first dozen picked each week.

White is a dud. Lynch will start forward and play the second ruck role.
Lol is that what u think hey?

Here's a quote from Derek Hine himself: As we all know, he's an extremely athletic player. Although he's been playing that high half forward role for Sydney and had a really good season, we feel that there's further scope to his game. As well, what you guys wouldn't have seen is his ability to go through the ruck at NEAFL level. So that provides further scope to his game."

Here's a few of his stats from 2013 in the NEAFL.

Rd 2: 16D, 26HO, 1G
Rd 3: 12D, 27HO
Rd 4: 28D, 42HO
Rd 5: 21D, 44HO, 2G
Rd 6: bye
Rd 7: 24D, 45HO
Rd 8: seniors
Rd 9: 34D, 38HO, 10G *** What a game!
He followed up after rd9 with goal hauls of 4, 5 and 3, then played the last 11 games in the seniors where he performed well, but didn't really play in the ruck there due to Sydney's 2 Rucks they already had in the team.

So going by what Derek Hine has said, and his performances in the ruck, it's easy to conclude that he will be pushing Lynch out of the team to play that 3rd tall forward/ruck, along side Cloke and Reid.
