With the mighty Pies in rest and recreation mode for the week, all attention turns to the two matches being played.

The wounded Hawks take on the flying Swans, while our greatest enemy, the steaming cesspit which is Carton will try to beat a solid West Coast side on their own dung heap.

Using only the heart I'm going for the Swans and the Eagles to get the goodies, but could see the Blues getting over West Coast if Cox misses.

While Carton looked impressive in their win over Essendon, past form would suggest the Dons were simply making up numbers in the 8.

Fingers crossed the Blues get whipped.

Regardless of who does get up I have no fear of any of the sides which play this week. Geelong are the imminent threat and if I had to choose a side to play in the GF it would be them, simply because a win over the side which have been the dominant team of the last 5 seasons would write the victory large, Bold, Underlined and in Italics in the history books.

Swans to get over the Hawks and WC to beat the Blues,

Swans will have traveled 3 weeks in a row by the time they get to us in the prelim.

Definetly Sydney to beat the Hawks. We play the winner of that match and we have more of a chance of winning if Sydney get over the line against the Hawks.

The other match, don't really care because we don't play the winner of that match unless they can somehow defeat Geelong. Prefer West Coast over Carlton but if Carlton SOMEHOW get over the line against West Coast without Gibbs, Kreuzer or Waite and then somehow defeat Geelong the next week and play us in the GF. Man, that would be some easy pickings, just give us the Premiership Cup already :D

Obviously Swans over Hawks, I'd be far more confident of winning a prelim over the Swans rather than the Hawks, though we should have both their measure, especially if Franklin misses.

West Coast vs Carlton I'm not too fussed. I think both of them can give Geelong a run for their money so whoever wins will give it a red hot crack.

Swans should keep the rage flowing and dispose of the hamstrung Hawks and the Blues are similarly crippled against the Eagles.

Off topic but even the Cats will be hampered without Menzel, the injury lottery has finally picked them it seems. Bad luck for them and young Menzel but it does even the field a bit.

Im going for Sydney and Carlton.

But I think Hawthorn and West Coast will win.

Dont really mind who we play out of Sydney and Hawthorn but would like to see Sydney win.

Carlton is an interesting one... Wouldnt mind seeing them get over West Coast and play Geelong the following week in a prelim at the 'G infront of about 90,000 people.
Would be a ripper game but cant see either beating Geelong.

Has to be Swans and Eagles.

Not really. It just shows their 'luck' with injuries.

Of all the players they could have injured, Menzel, Stokes, Byrne and those typed are the ones they could afford to lose.

Jst shows that they even get lucky with injuries. I mean, was Menzel even IN the side much before the Collingwood game? His loss won't affect them one iota. It would be the equivalent of us losing Blair to a knee injury. Yeah he can be good, but losing him wouldn't affect us at all.

I want Sydney and Carlton to win

I honestly believe Carlton can really trouble Geelong at the MCG, more so then WCE. Geelong are the only side that can beat us for the flag so i want them out and in all seriousness... how good would a Collingwood vs Carlton GF be?

THe Eagles should win easily IMO.
They are playing some really good football and are on their own dung heap.
Their tall forward line will cause a real head ache for the Blues defence,
they have the best one/two ruck combo in the league and a tightknit backline.
The only way the Blues will win is if their small forwards have a day out.
But with their current injuries, I cant see them having enough class to get over the top of West coast.

I really want the Blues to beat the Eagles.
That way Geelong get one less chance of playing a game against a side that employs a press similar to ours.
The less practise for them the better.

The only way I can see the Swans coming up trumps is to stick to their usual hardnosed gameplan they always play and shut down the space that the Hawks rely on to use their precise footskills.
Their short, chip it 20mtrs and start it again game plan can and has come undone when not allowed the time and space to execute it.

The Hawks should get over the Swans in a tight, tough battle.
If they can rove of Mumfords ruckwork (like we did to the Eagles) and get on top in the midfield, they should be able to kick a winning score, with or without Buddy.
Having Buddy out will just make them more unpredictable.

Will take huge efforts for the Hawks and Blues to get up but there is a reason as to why the Hawks finished top 3 and the Blues are as good as a top 4 side so it will be interesting.

Having said that, with Buddy down and Kreuzer + Gibbs both ruled out, life will be very tough.

Hard to overlook Swans/Eagles combo on that basis.

We are quite literally one game from another GF because I believe if we get over our prelim opponent those standing are going to be battered and bruised. This is where Collingwood's player conservation policies could bear rich fruit indeed.

Hawks will have the Swans measure even without Buddy and if they don't its better for us.
Gibbs is a massive out for carlton but I'm still sticking with them, their speed will trouble Geelong more than the Eagles physical play.

My dream is for Sydney to continue their amazing run of form by beating Hawthorn. The awful news from Jarrod McVeigh has galvanised the whole team, and they are a huge chance to get over the Hawks. Especially if Buddy is out, which he should be. They would be crazy to risk losing him long term.
If so, we face Swans in Prelim, and we being their bogey side, we would be virtually guaranteed a spot in the GF.
Both Carlton and WC have a chance of defeating Geelong in the Prelim. Carlton have beaten the Cats a few times in the last couple of years, and WC earlier this year - although at Subi.

A relly enjoyable, stress free weekend of footy coming up. Our guys will be resting, getting over niggles, while the rest will be beating the crap out of each other. Can't wait!

I'm praying Sydney, but I think Hawthorn will win.

I'm going for WCE too. If they lay 100 bruising tackles on Geelong in a Prelim, I'll be happy.

Hoping for Sydney and Hawks to be a slogfeast, with Sydney throwing everything they have at them. Fatigue and a couple under injury clouds should make easy pickings for us.

Geez, the scum looked alright on Sunday, but with Squibbs out as well that makes it tough for them. If Cox is out then I think Carlton wins. Which is not bad as I think Carlton matches up well against Geelong.

Being from NSW originally, always had a soft spot for the Swans.

I never go for carlton, although I concede I laughed heavily when they beat St.Kilda.

I'm actually surprised the Saints got as far as they did this year. Clearly a team divided against themselves and struggling for form after a number of years at the top with no reward.

They had to fold sometime and if that happening against the most notorious flat track bullies in comp gives their supporters more hope I'm happily anticipating the inevitable faceplant and wails of outrage and despair from Visy park :D:D

Sydney - I think we could beat either Sydney or Hawthorn, but I'd feel more confident playing the swans in the prelim.

West Coast - Might actually be able to take Geelong in the prelim? And at least if they don't win, they're sure to make them work hard for it.

I hope Sydney win in the hardest game ever played and WCE win in the easiest game ever played. Love to see Carlton get a hiding and WCE relatively fresh to give Geelong a very tough game the following weak. Geelong will win but the harder it is the better.
