It has nothing to do with finals but i was thinking about them and like every other melbourne supporter i was thingking about those close games that could have gone our way.

Now from a footy fan perspective not from a melbourne one. Which game of the following four do you believe was the best game and why?

Round 2 Melbourne Vs Collingwood
round 7 " Vs Dogs
Round 9 " Vs Port
Round 12 Melbourne Vs Collingwood.

All were good close games. I personally enjoyed each one of them.

I think the draw for mine was the standout, just put all we had into the last quarter and for most of the game really.

We almost rolled Freo in Perth also.

But round 2 was the best for mine. We were coming off a round 1 thrashing, and people were calling for Baileys head. It was looking like another dark season for the MFC, and the depression among supporters was evident.

Then we came out and took it up to the Pies, a game we should have easily won. and a game nobody gave us a chance on.. they had the umps helping them all day, and still had to rely on Petterds unfortunate dropped mark in the dying seconds

That was the day we found our heart again... I believe it was a landmark game for the MFC, even if it was a loss.

. I wasn't overally fussed with the Port win...after all it is Port:o

. The dogs game was soul crushing but promising.

. RND 2 game V Pies was also heartbreaking, but I think it gave the players much needed confidence.

. The Draw was so-so IMO, I knew we'd play well, didn't quite get the win, but so be it. Very promising though.

. Fremantle game pissed me off incredibly, 1st half was disgusting, 2nd half was good, but not good enough in the end. Overall pretty promising.

.Brisbane and Sydney game were incredible.

. Dons win was an pretty good win. We should of won and we did.. solid win. Same as Richmond win.

. North, Geelong, Carlton, Adelaide, St.Kilda losses were pretty poor performances.

. Losing to W.Coast, one of the saddest days in MFC history..

every close loss is soul crushing. however round 2 was probably the worst I have ever felt after a game. hopefully next year we turn those close losses into wins

from a footy perspective, round 12 was probably the best game.

3 close losses to Collingwood, WB and Freo were ok (besides the first half against Freo).

Geelong and StKilda losses weren't too bad. We always get blown away by those two sides especially at Geelong and Etihad. The StKilda game we at least had a decent crack. We kept in it on the scoreboard until 3q time through hard work.

Adelaide and Hawthorn games were disappointing to give a start but really the other teams were the better teams on the day. We get another shot at Hawthorn and another go at AAMI.

The North and Carlton games were both shockers. Shocking starts and played without aggression or confidence. Only once the game was nearly over did we start to find something, and by then it was too late. I'd love to play those games again. Round 22 with most likely little on the line for us (and maybe for North) will be a good indicator of how far this group has come.

The less said about the WC game the better.

Back to the OP, I think the Bulldogs game was the best we played. We took it up to them in the wet and really had them done. Each quarter we gifted them a goal at the start only to work incredibly hard to keep fighting back to hit the lead. Unfortunately we were just one crucial goal short of finishing them off and they threw Lake forward and won it.

I was absolutely shattered after the DOGS loss but it was the most rewarding. Stars like Scully and Trengove killed it that night.

As for the draw, was a good game but realistically we could of been kicked out of the game fairly early if it wasn't for inaccuracy.

Round 2 was a kick in the guts but a massive turn around from the week before.

MOST DISAPPOINTING

WCE @ the MCG, was aggravating as hell. Was Watts first game for the year and we came off a WIN. Was truly horrible and in hindsight a game we should of won.

Richskee, dunno if you were doing this on purpose, but we actually came of a loss into the WC game (the Dogs game)

Can't go past round 2 for me. That was the day when I really felt pride for my team, after having felt like it would be another 2008 the week before.

I wish Bail had just gone bang and brought the house down. Petterd dominating also made the game awesome, can't wait for RP11.

Well said STB!

I also agree with everyone that the WCE game was our worst performance for the year and made me sadder than round 1.

That was for sure. Although it pissed me off when we put in a poor fourth quarter against North when we had the momentum really could have started something. it would of had us at 4-2 after round 6.

I hate losing close games, really annoys me. I wanna see us hold on to victories, and come back from behind to win in those situations. Everytime we get in that situation I freeze up because of the past and all the games I've seen us lose under simular circumstances. I think when we start to win those vital games/quarters, that's when the fun will truly begin.

NO MORE BAD MEMORIES! :thumbsu:
