OK, we know for sure that Ednie is in. We can also be pretty confident that Richo will also play.

Will there be any other in's? Pettifer perhaps?

Who will make way? Spud has already indicated that Knights is definitely in.

I would say that Paul Hudson may make way...

Is Spud prepared to make a statement? Would he drop Leon Cameron? Or even Joel Bowden? Will Ray Hall make way for Richo?

Adelaide don't have much in the way of tall forwards, so maybe Biddiscombe will be sent back to Coburg.

Thoughts?

Changes

I think Hudson for sure, and possibly Biddiscombe or Cameron to be dropped.
I'd love to see the forwards bolstered this week in light of the Hawks game.
Bring in Pettifer and maybe McGrath they both played well for Coburg.
Adelaide don't flood and it could be a case of a shoot out with them, cause the weather is forecast to be fine on Sunday under the roof at Colonial.

Cheers:)

Don't think McGrath will play - the club have said that he won't play before 2003. He's the size of a splinter.
Hall must play, there's no way they'll drop a tall.
I'd much prefer to see Pettifer or Krakouer play ahead of Hudson. Don't think its going to matter much really...it's who they run through the midfield that really matters.
Wonder if they'll rush D Kellaway in to play a half on Ricciutto?

Should be a great game, we'll play attacking footy and hopefully the Tigers will do the same. But we're your bitches (right CJH??) so I'd favour Richmond to win in a close tussle. :)

Ha! It will be interesting to see how it goes! I will be watching the pattern of play, particularly off the ball, and will see if my theory hold's true!

I still think Adelaide will pack numbers around the ball, leaving plenty of space out wide (the opposite to how Port Adelaide play). The team who can win the most of the ball in tight and feed it to their runners who have open space to work into will win the game.

If I were a Crow supporter, I would be worried that my forward line didn't have enough options to contribute significantly to a winning score. Adelaide will have to rely on some healthy scoring coming from midfielders pushing forward.

We will also be able to run 2 big forwards again this week which may cause some headaches for the Crows

This means that if we break even in the midfield, we will win as we are more efficient going forward. (except for last week, when we were pathetic in this regard)

That's how we always play and that's how we'll play again this week.

Funnily enough, while I'm worried about our ability to kick goals, I'm not worried about our options there. We have a few players who can all kick 3 to 4 on their day, and together with the midfield group kicking goals (as they do) we can score enough majors. But our defence needs to be running and our midfield will have to get enough clean ball through into the forward line to for that to happen. Against the Bombers and Port in the second half, that did not happen and our forwards aren't good enough to take plenty of contested marks and make an impact that way.

However, I feel reasonably confident that IF Richo and Ottens can be closed down, ala Round 9 last year, then the Tigers don't have anyone else really damaging in front of goals. I just fear the Richmond boys may be primed for a big one after the poor performances of the past 2 weeks and the media scrutiny the club has been under.

All the best :)

The way to stop Richo & Ottens kicking a winning score is to stop the ball from being delivered to them too often. Crows must put pressure on Tigers delivery into their forward 50. From a Crows fan perspective, Crows certainly do have the midfield potency to be able to do this.

As far as crows forward line goes, Crows don't have a forward with the "presence" (or the media focus) to equal Richardson or the like, but it is a mistake to think that they do not have scoring potency. There are up to four Crows forwards who have potential to kick three or four goals. Stevens needs to put in a better effort, Fitzgerald is a tall marking forward who would be right up in the leading goalkickers if he just kicked a bit straighter, Welsh always gets one or two and has been able on occassions to come up with bags of five, and Burton is a difficult player to match up on that can kick three as well. After that you have the contribution of the midfielders.

What we tend to be seeing to date is that opposition sides don't really see Adelaides forwards as a threat, and each opposing coach has decided to try to suppress this player or that player - no one forward has got the "focus" of attention like Richardson or Lloyd would get. So one week Fitzgerald is taken out of it - Welsh gets four. Another week opposition focusses on Welsh - Stevens (or maybe Burton) bobs up. And so on. Richmond will be able to easily effectively cover whomever Richmond considers to be Crows main two forward threats. The other two will be where Crows forwards can stretch Richmond.

Last week in the second half Power got a bit of a run on. I noticed that they start to run & get free with the ball when two Crows were drawn to the contest at the ball against one Power player, leaving another player free to receive. Perhaps Crows might be a bit smarter about that this week.

I don't see Richmond as being able to break even in the midfield. Only the bombers to date of any side has got the better of Crows midfield when the Bombers seemed to get an incredible series of balls that "ran their way". Bombers were good at ducking under tackles and firing out quick handballs though. Richmond's midfield aren't at that class.

This is the bit I can't work out! I feel that Essendon, Carlton and Adelaide all play football in a similar manner, namely stacking numbers around the ball and working on winning the hard ball.

Carlton are so good at this game that they rightly call Essendon their bitches (slap them on the @rse and call them Susan!).

Richmond are so good at countering Carlton at this that we also call them our bitches!

And yet Richmond seem to turn to water when facing Essendon while having a reasonable win/loss record against Adelaide.

I think this is a game Richmond can win because when we do play our own grinding style of football, we do it well. If we are able to get good ball out to the like of Bowden, Campbell, Tivendale etc., will will cut you apart. This is due to the acres of space that you game plan leaves open.

Give Tivendale half an inch of space and two steps and he will sit the ball lace out to Richo 60m metres away. He is the best kick of the ball on the run in the league (since the retirement of Jarman) IMHO.

why they have even considered bringing back Dudgers is behond me. he should be playing for crows not us. he is a friggin hack

why we consider you as a tiger supporter is beyond me.your becoming a broken record:rolleyes:

no wonder i get negative, when blokes like poyas are dropped. if this is true, our clubs selection policy is a joke. its always the youngsters that are dumped first at our club. its no wonder they arent developing as fast as we like, because the coach has got no faith in them.
