Thompson Walks!

Just been watching the after the game segment on Channel 10. They highlighted Thompson walking out of the conference after 6 minutes. Balmy and the Geelong media chick were left to explain. Balmy was clearly embarrassed saying he [Thompson] said something about not liking the questions and the media chick said she thought the questions were good.

What is it with Thompson? You'd reckon after a 13 goal win he'd be on a high. Those sort of antics don't help the club. Reckon he'll get a caning in the media tomorrow and maybe from Cookie on Monday.

Its because they ask **** questions... The coaches all get sick of it. They get 15 minutes after the game before they have to sit down and get asked a barage of mind numbing questions from the same people that write **** about them in the papers the next day.

I'll tell ya what It is, he has battled that much bullcrapp from the media(deserving or not) over a year and I reckon It took It's toll on him tonight. From what I saw tonight his gameplan took off and I feel pretty bad from how I've been treating him.

Sorry guys, but they didn't show the question. But Balmy and the media chick were quite embarrassed by Thompson's actions. Looked a bit petulant to me. Tomorrows press will tell the full story.

It just seemed that he aimed a "not this s**t again" response at one person before he walked out so I was just wondering if anyone caught what who/what it was

Im told one question was about Steve Johnson, but that may have been on his 5 goal haul in the VFL.

It was in relation to a question that was phrased very negatively about Steven King's reliability and ability to recover from injury.

It was a bit harsh and irrelevant considering all the other things to write about after the game, ie. Nathan coming of age, the Abletts starring, Tomahawks awesome first game, Varcoes first game etc.

What was the point of sticking the knife in about King? I don't blame Thompson in this case.

Being coach of a football club for as long as he has he should expect stupid and irrelevant questions from the media. The media dont want to report about the game much anymore, more the surroundings and to try and get exclusives. There are no excuses for him walking out on the press conference even if the questions were annoying him. he is the leader of our club and should be in the most important p.r. role that the club provides yet his communication is terrible and i would say now, given laidleys performance with the carey situation, has become the worst spoken coach in the league. Needs a kick up the arse i think.

He'd showed some emotion - BE HAPPY ABOUT IT!! Good on him, however I do understand the embarrassment of Balmie etc. Would have been good if he'd directed them to ask better questions though..
