For striking Bartram.
I didn't see it and didn't even know he was in the umps book until the post game report. Could someone who saw it please tell me if he is in any sort of trouble because I would hate to lose him..

na doubt it seen worse get off not as bad as Wheelan who defently deserves to get rubbed out i'd say Thorntons will get thrown out he'll have no case to Answer i watched it a few times :thumbsu:

Would be disappointed if he got suspended, and for the record, I think Whelan's striking charge will be thrown out also.

Thornton's been great for us this season, against Adelaide, we definitely need him to play a role like he did against Kosi, maybe on Tippett, Adelaide have a quite a few mobile forwards, like Burton, Tippett, McGregor, Bock (if they need him) and of course, Goodwin if he plays down there.

I hope he misses so everyone on this board can see him for the useless player he is
Doctors now have the evidence to prove that an excess of bias leads to a decrease in logic.

So if Thornton doesn't play, we will see how useless he is?

If you are going to continually bag a player, at least back it up and be constructive.

I am sick of agendas such as Thornton, Houlihan, Kennedy, Russell, Bannister etc.

Anyone with an agenda should be able to not only expand on their player opinions but also address anything put to them where the player has done well.

An obvious and deliberate lack of objectivity to the negative lends itself to questions about allegiance. I think all posts from posters unwilling to make a proper argument should be deleted from here on in. It is unconstructive and seems to be deliberately derisive.

Have an opinion by all means, just start backing it up.

Good decision there ODN, it's been happening far too much lately, even when we're winning, players are still getting bagged, Ratten obviously realises he's got the balance right at the moment, the 22 would have been unchanged on the weekend (but Gibbs was injured), so stop bagging Russell, Bannister, Houlihan, Thornton, Bentick and whoever else, the team was won 2 in a row, lets celebrate being back on the winners list.

Also, bag Kennedy as much as you like :p

Just seen the incident that got Thornton reported on Channel 10. It doesn't look that bad. Sort of threw his arm around trying to avoid contact, but IMO, accidently clipped Melbourne players head. Should get off.

Would you just get over it already? You continually post negativity about Thornton, Betts and Stevens and its seriously getting old and repetitive. You've said it many times before - cant you just contribute with something positive for once instead of posting naive comments without backing them up?

The only reason he should be reported is for looking like this bloke from that dancing show.

NORTH Melbourne defender Daniel Pratt and Melbourne backman Matthew Whelan face one-game AFL suspensions.

An early plea from Pratt means he will be out for one game after the match review panel upheld his match-day report on Saturday night for rough conduct against Collingwood ruckman Josh Fraser.

Whelan received a two-match ban for striking Carlton full-forward Brendan Fevola, but he can accept a one-game suspension with an early plea.

The panel overturned a second match-day report against Whelan for striking Fevola.

As expected, the Saturday night report against Brisbane key forward Jonathan Brown for charging Hawthorn captain Sam Mitchell was withdrawn.

In a busy day for the panel, Carlton defender Bret Thornton was cleared of striking Demon Clint Bartram.

The panel also decided to take no action against Geelong defender Josh Hunt and Fremantle forward Jeff Farmer for their bumps.

Essendon forward Andrew Lovett and St Kild onballer Leigh Montagna can accept $900 apiece for wrestling each other, while an early plea will mean West Coast onballer Chad Fletcher receives a $1950 for making negligent contact with field umpire Hayden Ryan.

Really liking the way T-Bird is performing this year. We are starting to compile a very good back six and I can see T-Bird getting the job on either Burton or Goodwin.

when i saw the Thornton Incident I didn't think he'd get susspended even the commentators said that won;t go to far the wheelan report ya can see Fev didn't want him to be rubbed out bu patting him on the backside ;)
glad fev didn;t do anything silly in retaliation he'd be one we wouldn't want to
get suspended we'd miss t-bird if he got rubbed out glad he got off ;)
it didn't look a lot in it .

least we had a win in that area too :)

It was very soft imo and didn't warrant a report. However it is something that regularly creeps into Thornton's game. It seems like it is his way of appearing tough but he would be far better off just going hard at the ball. Stuff like this only gives away free kicks. He is better than this.

You'll find that Fev patted him on the backside after he scored the goal, just to rub salt in his wounds some more.

Good News on T-BIRD
