Channel 10 news(?) talked to Luke Power about the clash tonight he said he Sam was a taller and a better kick. Someone tells us more about Luke's positives and negatives.

What about Luke coming this way instead of Sam going north? We can give them back Bartlett?

Luke has the same footy smarts as Sam but is shorter and quicker.Plays in the forward end but will go into the middle and become a dominant player in the comp IMO.He was taken at pick 6 in the same draft as Tarrant,Croad,Massie etc if my memory serves me correctly.

Power

Even though i know the Bulldogs wouldn't consider trading power (or Im pretty confident) I don't think they could if they wanted to. I think a person drafted has to be retained on the list for two years- or this may be just for young drafted players. I pretty sure this is correct.

Here Here!
What was the point drafting a player at No. 10? We could have traded it for a player or two last year.
We've got we have to give him a fair go.
We drafted a 17 yo, not Allen Jakovich.

I suppose they have a strong midfield so he doesn't get into the mix a lot.

So Luke Power was in the same draft as Nathan Brown? Someone please remind me the draft order of these players (Power, Tarrant, Croad, Massie, Brown)

Draft

1997 National Draft

1 Travis Johnstone
2 Brad Ottens
3 Trent Croad
4 Mark Bolton
5 Luke Power
6 James Walker
7 Kris Massie
8 Chris Tarrant
9 Chad Cornes
10 Shane O'Bree

18 Mark Alvey

1997 National Draft

1. Michael Gardiner
2. Chris Heffernan
3. Rory Hilton
4. Mark Kinnear
5. Daniel McAlister
6. John Rombotis
7. Bowen Lockwood
8. Leigh Brockman
9. Mark Harwood
10 Nathan Brown

So some of those players were in different drafts

Sorry about that. Thinking about it if Luke Power went at 5, we did pretty well to his brother (taller, slightly slower) at 10.

Nathan Brown at 10 also pretty good considering the duds above.

From what I saw of Luke tonight was pretty good, hopefully Sam will be as good or better.

Luke is a good player who has moved from being a forward to the midfield easily. Good work ethic and is still getting better as a player. Sam has a good role model in his "big" brother.
How good was Lappin last night after several weeks off ?

Shane Morrison & Tim Notting for Power?

Never in a million years. How about Eagleton and Bartlett?

I think Sam Power will be a super player who will surpass the heights these two you have suggested would ever hope to aspire to.

I would consider a trade for Keating and Cupido at this year's draft (as I sugested on your board) for a high draft pick subject to them passing fitness tests. The fitness test would be conditional that it not be by the same who passed Allen Jackovich fit.

Sam Power, arguably the best credentialled junior player in recent years, is not available for such a mediocre return if at all.
