Firstly, their was Simpson going for that mark, keeping his eye on the ball, where Wellingham didn't.

Secondly, AJ having eyes only for the ball against Ziebel (who had some eyes for the ball but knew what he was doing, hence the elbow was tucked in) if he had eyes for the ball only he would have had them strecthed out like AJ, thats what toughness is.

Thirdly and by no means the least, Army on Sunday, again running with the flight of the ball taking the mark and kicking the goal.

These acts stick out to me as they were from all of our smaller blokes who put their bodies on the line for this great club, moments like these make me proud to be a Carlton supporter.

1. Yarran's sublime running making most players look they are running next to him almost in slow motion and watching him develop into Carltons #1 attacking weapon an AA player, no there yet and a way to go ..but - evolving in front of us each week...I have never had the pleasure of seeing a Carlton high pick develop so quickly and so much above any expectations I could have had...not to take away from some good deveopment in others as well...but Chris blows me away - the type of player I pay and go just to watch run around ..he can become anything ..

2. (Humble Pie? - Maybe) I distinctly remember McLean getting back to HB position on his own from nowhere and then taking a high pressure mark low down perfectly to get us out of heaps of trouble - being eh only presentign option as well..at that moment I had to rethink my low opionion or expectations of Brock ...forge who it was against - maybe Collingwood..that moment I saw the lights go on in Brock and in that game he was everywhere, tackling, marking, ...never thought he could cover so much ground - well done Brock I was wrong about your ability to run..that same game made me start watching teh different facets of Brocks - display if you like..and I started thinking of him as a HB flanker type. He is strong enough to cover any small forward ( thinking Milne) he is smart enough to know where to run to and he seems to have a decent tank - I see him now as a HB playing inside - he could have a long term role in that position ..

3. Bells first two tackles - finally a Carlton mid who looks like a natural and elite tackling machine - hurts players legally, his hard running fearlessness and relish for the physical contact, and looks like he can develop into a genuine scoring machine as well..funny how he described himself as a mobile defender - just a year ago...if he had played as an inside midfield - he would have gone higher in the draft? If he keeps on playing and developing - wow just what we have needed.

Spot on about Yazz I love watching him play, the way he takes the game on and the way he marks overhead now, I did question his courage early on but that has improved heaps. I think you weren't alone questioning Brock either but hats off to him, he just keeps running and getting the ball, he has clean hands and doesn't fumble, which compensates for his pace. Bell is just a beast who i hope will develop into our J Kennedy type besast in packs, I think a couple of his mistakes were purely due to experience, once he adjusts to the pace and realises he bolngs he will be fine and go from their.

Wasn't really an 'act' but McLean working his arse off to get back into the team and playing the way he has been against all odds when it looked like it might be over....genuinely inspirational stuff for me.

As for on-field acts, Armfield's mark going back with the flight is a big one for me.

Murphy's going in hard against Dangerfield that resulted in his injury is one for me too, I think it shut up any remaining flogs who thought he was soft.

Armfield is an extremely courageous player, and it's not just the courage he displayed in the air on Sunday. He is one of our hardest and most courageous runners, often persisting with a chase when others would give up and managing to put his opponent off their kick with a desperate late lunge.

I also think he is one of the few Carlton players who frequently demonstrates the courage to take the game on and break a line through the corridor. It takes guts to roll the dice through the middle. Armfield's courage in this sense has proved invaluable to us during clutch moments in close games (he may have got caught by Trent Dennis-Lane in front of goal in that final, but 30 seconds later he was charging down the wing again and was instrumental in securing our final inside 50).

McLean's effort against Richmond to gut run from the back pocket to get into space inside 50 to get on the end of a pass from Davies & ultimately kick the winning goal.

White's chase on Jetta on Sunday. Although he was never going to catch Jetta, White did not give up & made sure Jetta didn't kick GOTY.

And the piece-de-resistance.....Yazz's goal in Round 1 against Richmond to give us some breathing space in the last quarter.

Yarrans Goal against Richhmond round 1

Eddie Betts two big marks against Brissy.

McLeans goal agaisnt richmond

* special mentions to Simpsons courage. That will be remembered for the wrong reasons for me

Edit- Wookie, you simulatinously posted about Betts two marks aswell :p

Favourite moment for me is a little different to everyone else.

McCleans chase to keep up with Jetta, as the last person you would expect to do that would be Brock.
Imagine the commitment to work his small slow legs enough to keep pace with Jetta especially considering we all know the difference in natural running ability by the two.

Good thread.

For me I thought these 3 were important:

1) Jeff Garlett second game against Collingwood, in the middle of the ground, he went to swoop on the ball but fumbled and lost it, he then proceeded to go in head first and win it back. For me that turned the momentum back in our favour it was when the Pies were getting on top and as soon as he did that, I thought it lifted the rest of the team's intensity.

2) Carrazzo getting us back into the match against the Eagles. It was his first game back and once the Eagles were starting to get on top, Carrazzo was the one who showed some leadership where we had been desperately lacking it at the time and created a couple of goals to get us right back into it.

3) Jamison stepping up and hitting form when we needed him to. When he plays confident he just doesn't lose one on one battles and he takes the game on. Hopefully this minor hammy doesn't put his form off again.

I was going to do this tonight, but im going to save it for round 23 so I dont end up doing it again. I wont be doing a a years worth of highlights again, because ive been doing them round by round, so Ill be taking the top 10-15 or so in this thread and making them into a video

Murphy's going in hard against Dangerfield that resulted in his injury is one for me too, I think it shut up any remaining flogs who thought he was soft.
Murphy once again went in damn hard against a bigger Swan player on the weekend, despite not long being back from injury.

Growing into an absolute leader. Gem.

Great thread. Really interesting to see what different people rate.
For mine....

Tom Bells tackle on Mitch Wallis: Almost put the young pup into next week. Even when Judd comes back, would be great if he could retain his spot in the team.

Yarrans round 1 goal: Hard to go past this one. Left the Richmond players in his wake and drilled it from 40.

Eddies marks against Brisbane: Two MOTY contenders right there.

:thumbsu:

Murphy's goal against Brisbane.
Eddie's marks.
Yarran's runs through the middle and pin-point passing in the second Pies game.
T-Bird's flick over the head to Jeffy.

Yarrans round 1 goal: Hard to go past this one. Left the Richmond players in his wake and drilled it from 40.

As much as I loved Yazza's goal in rd 1 the one that topped for me was his goal in the second pies game. Judd hits him up just inside 50, he dodges 3 collingwood players then gets a kick away and it was just before 3qtr time when they were coming hard.

Hammer taking marks and kicking goals in the early rounds.

Eddie's marks vs Brisbane and his goals against Richmond in the most recent game.

Yarran's sizzling runs and amazing goals, especially the duck and weave one against Collingwood.
