Honey buns, they didn't win anything last year and I am still rooting for them.

Yes, I'm suprised you still supported them after only finishing 3rd out of 92 League teams. The pain must have nearly been too much

My technical area is always open for you Dan, remember that.

Try this maneuver: Take 50-60 paces backwards. Take several deep breaths. Sprint forward at full speed doing a triple summersault through the air, and disappear up your own arseh*le.

I don't know when the back-pass rule was introduced in Italy, but if the back pass was worth 0.5 goals per game (if that was what we assume caused the increase to 2.80), then the average in the Italian league now of around 2.5 is perfectly normal (i.e around half a goal higher than it was withut the back pass.) To me though, I wouldn't have thought the back pass rule would have a huge impact on scoring.

The no backpass rule may have increased scoring in it's initial stages but that would have been greatly reduced as teams adapted their games to suit the rule. The large decrease in scoring the following year may reflect that to a degree. I also note that 234 of the 858 goals scored that year were in matches featuring the bottom two teams (compared to 169 in 1991/92 and 200 in 1993/94), so I wouldn't put the increase in scoring down to just the back pass rule alone.

As for the English League - well, no change there. Those arguing against the 2-point rule in favour of 3-points won't use the the English League in their argument. I think they will just bring up the Italian League (even though 90% of the discussion on this board concerns The EPL)

Increased scoring. Increased percentage on matches finishing in a result. Your stats tell the tale Dan, and the tale is that the 3 points for a win rule has done it's job in England.

By the way, I must have missed your response to my question of why you bagged my ten year sample size, or your response to Colins example of England v Egypt, or your response to my comments about the idiocy of attaching a 25% "proven" percentage of draws, given the Italian league statistics. I also note there has been no comment from you yet on the vast decrease in draws in Italian football since the 3 point rule was introduced. I am shocked, but will give you the benefit of the doubt and presume you are still working on these. I look forward to the day you post them.

The away goals rule is just as relevant in Kenya as it is in England, the Maldives, Germany, Bangladesh or Ethiopia. The country is irrelevant, the rule isn't - something you obviously don't understand. You asked me to do a search. I did and that website came up. Who cares what country it is, as long as it addresses the point.

So if the country is irrelevant, then why imply in the post that I commented on that if someone brings in an example from Italy, it's not really legitimate because most of the posts here are about the EPL?

More hypocrisy from you Dan?

Now go and find Diego, Mr. Soccer. You two make a good couple.

Not sure why you're so keen on trying to insult me by implying that I'm gay. After all, my best friend is gay, many of my friends are gay, and I enjoy going out drinking with them at various gay pubs around time. You may as well try insulting me for being Asian or something like that.

Still, looking at your overly defensive responses to Diego Forlan's "invitations", it seems to me that if anything, you're the one with the confused sexuality. How about if you come out (of the closet) with my gay mates. We'll take you out to the Builders Arms or somewhere like that. Perhaps you'll meet a nice guy, hold his hands, maybe steal a kiss or two - you'll sort yourself out one way or another. Come on, you know you want to give it a try.

Good indicator of Dan26's character that the most heinous insult that he can think of is to suggest that someone is gay.

Besides last time I saw Shinners and Diego in bed together they told me that it was because they were both tired at the same time, nothing more than that.

I think it's pretty obvious, from the bum-chum aspect of both of the above two posts, that Diego Forlan and Shinboners are sleeping together.

I know a good defamation lawyer guys.;)

I am just getting his stats on how many he wins, loses and settles!!

I think Dan26 has finally lost it. Why is he abusing himself? If you keep in mind that Dan26 has called everyone else here a moron, imbecile, idiotic etc. (and all the people who "really know their stuff" post on BigSoccer anyway), the only person here who knows enough about the sport to be the real "Mr. Soccer" is Dan26 himself.

First of all, Diego, you're an idiot. And second... nah, that pretty much covers it. I suppose I should have sympathy for you though - you're obviously paralyzed from the neck up.

By the way Dan, the offer to go drinking at the Builders Arms is still open. I'm not taking the p*ss here buddy. It's a sincere offer to help you. You obviously have issues and I'm just trying to do the friendly thing and introduce you to a few guys who you might get along with. It must be difficult for you to meet other guys out somewhere like Werribee, and the gay pub scene in Melbourne can seem to be a little bit cliquey and intimidating, so I'm just looking to help opening a few doors for you.

Oh, and forget any idea of gay clubs being full of camp bikies like in the Blue Oyster Bar scenes in the Police Academy series of movies - gay pubs are just like any other pubs except they're full of gays, lesbians, and blokes like me who to have a drink and have a bit of a dance to Soft Cell and Bronski Beat. So Dan, don't be afraid - come out of the closet and have some fun. Who knows, you might end up meeting one of your AFL heroes and getting the chance to really show them how much you really appreciate their efforts.

The Bigsoccer quote is the funniest of them all. If I wanted to discuss soccer with people who really know their stuff, it wouldn't be on a bulletin board dominated by Americans (no offence you_idiot).
