Throwing league games.

This week me and my mate have decided to 'rig the league'. I'm playing him this round, and i'm currently 4th but only on % and need to win by a lot to stay there, and he's 2 games clear on top.

Anyway, he's playing all his none scoring subs and naming one of them captain so we can play each other in the first round of the finals. 1st Vs 4th. Anyway, this is to avoid playing each other in the pre-lims to give us the best shot at playing each other in the Granny.

Yes, i know the plan has big holes, as i we still have to win against the other teams to make the granny. But it would suck knocking one of us out in the pre-lims as we are the only Vics in our league, and it has sorta been us vs them all season.

Anyone else trying something like this? Maybe to sneak a mate in to the 8?

essendon did it against richmond in 2001.

they played them in rd 22, lost, finished top and played richmond again the following week and absolutely thumped them.

Yea, he does care about his overall ranking. In fact he's not that high at about 4000th, he's just has pulled out the goods in the league against hard opponents. Everyone in the top 4 is higher then him. But thats just the way the cookie crumbles.

The Vin Twin did it this week in our league... prick!! He tanked in friggen dream team! haha... he did it so i couldnt make the final 4... butttttttt.... the thing is, he has stuffed himself up... cos another upset happened, and it meant that me and Roy (other DT Talk panelist) can make the top 4... woohoo.. if Calvin loses (to 2nd on the ladder - tackling ti.t-ed) and if VinTwin loses to 8th on the ladder (who beat Calvin last week)... we will be in! which will be nice.. calvin and the vin twin have been chirping lots...

i was considering tanking earlier in the week as i am a game clear on top and am playing second place who is hitting some nice form

just looking at wat is likely to happen if i win/lose and who i will verse first week of the finals

ok after looking at it if i lose by a fair bit i will go back to second and play third who has the least amount of points of any team in the 8

this move would almost guarantee me a place in the prelims however i dont think i want to tank

I'm throwing my game this week (2nd spot on my league ladder) due to the team in 9th spot getting some amazing scores over the last 3-4 weeks and I'm playing 8th spot team (which has been scoring average but has had some luck). Just want to make sure I kept at least one more threat out of the 8.

Ive should've done it this week, Im playing the 4th placed side (im 1st) all things well i should beat him easily this week, however the fifth placed team is consistantly out scoring the 4th placed team and will easily win his match and move into forth. This means i should've lost this week, held my first spot so i could have an easy run into the prelims, I was too soft and plus he is a good mate of mine and would love to see him bundled out 1st week of the finals.
