For most of Frawley's rein, I thought the standard of players was quite good.

You half had me until you lost all, and I mean absolute ALL, credibility with this!

I am not saying Frawley was a great coach but when we made the preliminary final I didn't feel like it was an over achievement. Look at some the players:

Gaspar, Knights, Kellaway, Cambell, kellaway, Bowden, Richardson, Daffy, Hilton, Stafford, Ottens, Cameron, Holland

There was a good spine there. Some of the kids like Rodan and Karakuer were looking promising at the time. Every year I thought finals was on the cards. Perhaps I was too optimistic. Most people are when it comes to their own teams.

Kellaway x2 - You could not for 1 second doubt their endevour but lets be honest, they were duds that made up for an extreme lack of skill by trying their ass off.
Daffy - Had a few good years, by the time that Spud arrived he was a washed up old hack and was passed on to Sydney where we paid for him to be playing there.
Hilton - Had a few good games out of about 100. Again, tried hard but not a very talented player
Holland - Don't even start with this money hungry, slow motion robot

Were all spuds. And they are the supposed good players. We had a horror line up under spud.

Making judgments on players is always subjective and it seems that many posters prefer to take the negative slant - then and now. Again, results is the best way to assess. You can't make a preliminary final with hacks. Other clubs also wanted some of the players, which led to salary cap pressures that the likes of Holland tried to exploit.

Confidence makes a big difference in football so if you keep judging players to be garbage, that is generally how they end up playing - regardless of their natural ability.

If a supercoach becomes available like Malthouse, Eade or possibly Mark Williams you would have to entertain the idea.

If we finish off the season strong, then yes you keep him around for 09. But I wouldn't go around signing extensions right now.

God I dunno what I would do if he ended up a Tiger. I have never liked him for some reason. (His record is OK though I guess)
I have always rated Malthouse... I love the way he gets his 19 & 20 year olds to play hard-arse footy & tackle like nut-bags.

Wallace needs to get his 5 years though.
There is a good chance we will be finishing 9th or 10th this year comming of the spoon last year & with a much younger list.
Anyway you look at it this is an improvement in the right direction.

Next years major KPI for him would be finals I reckon.
Get us in & we re-negotiate a deal. (not a further 5 though)
He misses the finals next year and we thank him for his services and look elsewhere.
