Does Collingwood sell home games?
NoThey don’t, and it would also be different if we asked for it, which isn’t the case. In my view, there’s no harm in doing it for the next two seasons, whatever puts the club in the best position.

Oppo jelly bout this lucrative deal calling us minnows.

Hobart came to us.
we make the most money in the comp, we arent doing this cos we are in debt

I’m all for it. And it’s not just the short term cash grab. Tassie is desperate for a team and their team may be delayed by a year or more. This venture will get us a few thousand more rusted on Tiger supporters and paying members for a lifetime out of Tassie. Will help when we travel there in future to play away games against the Devils.

Also will ensure we get given an away game against Devils every year in future … which is better than drawing one of the other interstate sides away.

So long as it ends the moment Devils come in I’m all for it.
tassie richmond supporters will start to dry up once tassie gets its own team. everyone on the island will support them after this gen

The tassie grounds are garbage and if you thought the bombers game was bad wait till it’s in below 0 temperatures.

Unless the deal pays for the new facility then I could be swayed
10 million a game or no deal , Hawks get paid to play and CFL just funded their new facilities

No, they lobby the government for funds to build a state of the art facility for their Netball team, and then immediately kick said Netball team out once it's finished. Scumbag behaviour.

yep

bo sold himself for 1 million earlier in the thread. imagine being so cheap

Its a no from me... big clubs dont sell home games
10 mil a game , and in place of the shitihad home games

otherwise GTFO 🖕🏻

We saw the benefits of the cairns experiment go towards upgrades at PRO & then flags.
In 5yrs I’m tipping the same results.
Reap what you sow….

Don’t do it. Hawthorn haven’t needed the cash for 20 years but the club is afraid to let go.

It is somewhat of a false economy. Let’s say you get $1.5m. If you decide to give members access to extra away games as part of their membership, they you need to pay the hosting club for every member that attends. Say that game is Richmond v Hawthorn @ MCG. If 30k Richmond members attend, then Richmond pay Hawthorn around $750k.

Hawks money will end once the Devils enter the comp. 2 year contract, 4 games only.

And as for members? What about Tassie long term members, we get screwed even after flights. I used to go to dreamtime but hey you need to book a seat. If you want to keep Richmond in a bubble then hats off but there's punters being paying membership and getting **** all in return.

What value do you put on 2 extra losses? It cost us finals in 2012 playing GC in Cairns.

I'd want the club to explain why we are so desperate for the cash that we'd sell an MCG game.
No it didn't. We finished 3.5 games out of the 8. We lost 6 games by under 12 points. If you are going to use history - use it truthfully.

We aren't anywhere near as developed as our 2012 team either and we suck at Marvel anyway.

This is an easy yes if the finances work for us and it means we don't have to play a home game at Marvel.

I meant 2011; though I admit I thought we closer that year as well.

Running away from the Marvel problem isnt going to help us fix it.

The money aspect I get, so long it's clear it's a 2 yr deal and done.

Its only for 2 years

I didn't mean the team suck by playing at Marvel (which we do) but the supporter base sucks at turning up at Marvel... we'd arguably get better support in Tas (for 2 years). Agree it's only for a short time.

It's not like we are crashing a party - we've been hand picked by the Tasmanian Government because they know how big we are down there.

I recall attending the Hawthorn v Richmond game in Launceston in 2006. You'd swear by the amount of Richmond hype and paraphernalia in the town that Richmond was the only team playing.

It's only for 2 years whilst we're rebuilding - a far cry from the underlying premise behind the Cairns experiment.

And what's wrong with cementing our supporter base down there before the Devils enter the comp.

Going to the footy in Melbourne these days sh!ts me so I rarely go; but I'd make the trip to Tassie no problem.
