Tigers Vs Crows

How do you like the Tiger's chances this week with the home (state) ground advantage & 5 day vs 7 day break?

With Gasper out is Holland likely to return? Also, where is Greg Stafford, as I reckon you need Ottens playing up forward?

How do you see the midfield match-ups on McLeod, Riccuito, Goodwin, Johnson, Burton, Edwards, Bode, Doughty, etc?

Can't wait until Friday night. Should be a great game.

I think the result has more to do with how each team is placed in terms of preparation. Both Adelaide and Port Adelaide seemed to be flying from the first bounce of the first week while we didn't show anything until after half time against West Coast.

Ben Holland is reported to have recovered from his hammy and will come in for Gaspar. Scott Homewood, who played his first "senior" game last week, and did quite well will retain his spot. Andrew Kellaway will be the 3rd tall defender.

I don't think Beinke will quite have it all his way this week!

You can bet that Sziller will tag someone - probably Riccutio or Goodwin - while King would probably go with McLeod.

Aside from that, players will just run with each other with no real tagging going on.

From the Adelaide perspective, I think they will look at assigning tags to Bowden and Knights.

I would much prefer to see no tags and to have players just go against each other, one on one. There is no point trying to tag the opposition out of existence as it leaves no-one to kick the ball to your own forwards (which is the objective of the game!).

Apparantley Royce Vardy will be availible for selection so that is another tall option for us. Expect Hilton to come in and possibly Fiora so we should be clearly stronger this week if Dutchy does return. Will be interesting match , you beat us over here the last few times but both games we were out of form so im not sure if we struggle to match up on adelaide or u just caught us on a bad day.

Always rated Bowden as a gun, so I reckon he is your main midfield danger (Stenglein may get the job here). Don't reckon the Crows' hierachy we would be too concerned about the rest & will back Roo, McLeod, Goodwin, Johnson & Co. to win more than their fair share of the ball over Campbell, Knights, Sziller, King & Co. I like the way we tend to match up on the Tigers, as the Crows have usually had the midfield acendency. However, having said that Ottens could give you an advantage over Clarke - but that would rob your forward line.

Sounds like you have some players returning, so it should be a good game. I can't see any side taking it lightly now they have reached the semis. Bring on Friday.

Kane, i dunno bout that. I think its more likely the Tigers to take it lightly as they have more hurt players at the moment and i dont think that some clubs take the "Wizards Home Lones Cup" seriously.

I guess you should be made aware, Kane, that Richmond have never usually treated this pre-season competition seriously. Aside from '93 when we somehow fluked our way into the Grand Final we have never progressed beyond the1st round.

In that 3 years of the round robin comp, we have only won 4 our of our 9 games (0,2,2).

Even this year, I've noticed a lot of experimentation with our positioning. I mean, Brad Otten played nearly a half against Geelong as a Centre Half Back while Ray Hall played at Full Back against Carlton. Even Richo and Krakouer have been found at times in defence and this will never ever happen once the real stuff starts. All these players will be found forward.

Danny has also being giving ground time to all our our "next generation" of players like Pettifer, Krakouer, Rodan, Homewood, Hyde, Poyas and Newman. Undoubtedly these guys will get some senior time this year but none are considered in the top 22 yet.

I reckon Duncan Kellaway should tag McLeod :D .....if only he were playing. Sziller will do.

I don't think either team will go in to the match as if it were a premiership match, but they'll still be 100% committed to victory. The Tigers have obviously been experimenting a bit and while we've stated our desire to win, we've also tried out a few new things, given some young guys a go.

The Tiges may be undermanned but they still have enough talent there and I wouldn't be surprised if they pulled off a convincing victory. :)

Not if I know Danny Frawley...

Hope Krakka has half of Jimmys talent?:(
in the lead up rounds id say danny was half serious like most clubs really.all sides at this time of the year give the 2nd yr players more game time and the 1st yr players a bit of a taste of senior football.
however starting this week i believe all the remaining sides will play at their best and despite it being only a pre season cup there is nothing better for a side to give his young charges a chance to play in a GF just for the expeirence factor alone.

hope? young krakour has already shown he has at the very least half the talent as his dad.
cheers!

I'm not saying we will take the game lightly, just that we have done so for the past 3 weeks. I guess we will find out on Friday night when we will see if there still is any experimentation going on.

I think that there will be.. Rodan will play Peittefer, Poyas etc they will all play i think. Not saying that there not classy players

Agree. Richmond still posses the most frightened group of midfielders in the comp. Their superstars forward and back save them. To say they can win the flag is crazy talk.

Grabbed this from another post. Any truth in this? Theyll be tested this week! :D

And I suppose the ball kicks itself down to the forward line?

those crows...

Richmond might not have a great start...again but we'll come back. We Just have to watch adelaides toe...
Mcleod is dangerous...Spud'll unleash sziller for that one..

Don't underestimate the tigers...you crows. That midfield isn't frightened of anything.

in; hilton...holland...fiora
out : gaspar, dragga, ?

Its not over til its over.
Your talls will only pose problems if we dont get on top of the midfield.
Ill bet Ottens likes this new rule change in the centre.
Gasper Out.....shEEZ THAT HURT

Holland is out and the most famous drink driver in the afl is in...
So Homewood , AK and Vardy down back. Doesn't inspire confidence..then again adelaides forwards inspire even less fear...

Tough game but one we should win really..

I agree, you really should win...you made a preliminary final last year while we only just scraped into the final 8.

Even with a couple of key omissions (that won't have that much of an impact considering our forward line), you still have a very strong side, you have 2 extra days break on us and you're also playing at home. It sounds as if you'll take this game seriously and if you're the top 4 side that you claim to be, you should run away easy victors. :)

Hmmmm now i think about it the crows should win by a mile...we have no hope!!!We will be doing well to get within 5 goals of your mob...
No way we can compete with your midfield...

Hopefully that will do the trick
:D

hopefully.....

torney.....vardy.......a.kellaway
cameron..homewood...zantuck
bowden...knights...tivendale
pettifer...hall..........fiora
krakeour...richo...hilton
ottens...campbell...king
i/c : rodan, newman, sziller, rogers
emerg : hudson, mills, hart, hyde.

Adelaide have superior pace...but we can pass the ball faster than they can run
:)
Go tigers...fight and fight and win.

I'm sorry damnfire but you already posted your view that Richmond should really win this one and you can't take that back now :p Fair enough anyway, the Tiges should romp it in, but I am hoping at least for a reasonable contest from our boys....to offset at least a little the disturbing memories of our last finals visit.

Cheers crows.ok as well :)
