tiges salary cap cheating allegations

As they said though nothing was ever paid so it may not be much of an AFL issue. It will be interesting though if this opens the flood gates.

Richmond are holyier than though when it comes to this crap - would LOVE to see them charged and penalised - so sick of them carrying on like they are Saint Richmond with Pope Richo and the grand inquisitor KB -

tiges up for allegations of salary cap cheating - supreme court writ with ben holland ...

if it does the precidence is there... OVER a $1 million dollar fine and they will need to lose all their first & second round draft picks at the end of this year...

It will all need to be proven of course but there will be plenty of Carlton folk watching over this to make sure the heavy hand is thrown down to bring their club to their knees and then they too can see what it is like to rebuild... from scratch of course... whereas they have been rebuilding for the last 20 years...

Interesting to hear that Brayshaw and Gary Lyon were saying "oh but this happens at every club", in regards to outside business opportunities and real estate, etc. Correct me if I'm wrong but didn't we get punished for the exact same thing? Funny how everyone seems to now except that this happens and the AFL does nothing about it...ridiculuos

Why the surprise??? The greater majority of the other AFL clubs if not all, have all been paying under the tablets inducements since the salary cap was introduced in 1987.

We got caught big time along with Essedon and Melbourne and paid the penalty. But what really gets up my nose is the hyprocisy of the all the supporters who go on about Carlton cheating the cap, when in reality they would have no idea or not as to whether their club were playing by the rules or not!!!

It would be some nice karma if the Tiggers got fined and lost draft picks, but can't see it happening unfortunately. :D

Not surprised. There have been a lot of dodgie deals at Tigerland over the years. While they're at it, Nathan Browns property deal should be investigated by the AFL. The irony is that their list is still in crisis. lol. :)

You might want to revisit that Weaver post about Stephen O'Reilly if something comes of this. ;) :)

I know nothing of this and am not about to get all outraged just yet, however Carlton's 2002 penalties were for a one year payout to O'Reilly and promised payments to SOS and Braddles, that were never paid. An agreement to circumvent the cap is just as bad as actually paying the money apparently.

That doesn't matter - as we found out with Bradley & Silvagni. If the club promises it, and doesn't declare it to the AFL, then it's salary cap cheating - on the same scale as what we were punished for. Perhaps even bigger according to the news report.

Well if that is true Richmond will be in big trouble.

Nothing personal against Richmond, but seeing how harshly we were treated the $1mil fine and loss of all 1st and 2nd round draft picks seems fair.

The only thing that may prevent it from being as serious as ours was that we had 2-3 warnings IIRC

Which teams with any sense have since heeded.

Nothing was ever paid to Silvagni or Bradley but we copped it over that!

The irony is that they may get their skirts pulled down over a dud like Ben Holland as we did with Steve O'Reily.

Cant wait to see / hear what KB and CAro have to say about this!!!

Karma - If proven, It will be interesting to firstly see the reaction from the "we are in the box seat crowd" and the AFL's reaction. We got put over the barrel and nice greasy stick was inserted. The same should be done with them one would hope. Consistency.

Fingers and toes crossed:thumbsu: Can't wait to label them as filthy cheaters that can't even make the finals when they cheat.

Former Tiger sues club and Clinton Casey for $530,000
In a 16-page writ revealed last night on The Footy Show and seen by the Herald Sun, Holland also alleged:

THAT if he agreed to stay at Richmond, he would be given priority access to a $180,000 block of land at a Sandhurst development that he could re-sell for a large profit when it came up for public sale.

HE WAS offered a parcel of shares in a company developing a credit card insurance product that was expected to increase the market price of the company's shares on its release.

PODIATRY work would be made available for him at various aged-care facilities in which Casey was involved.

RICHMOND and Casey were providing and arranging for business opportunities to be provided to other club players and officials, including business opportunities in property development with which Casey was directly or indirectly involved.

This could be quite interesting to see if anything comes of this. With the block of land, shares, and some podiatry work, sounds like a very tidy way of working around the salary cap.

Exactly mate....Pandora's box anyone.

IITB and some other tiger ferals on the main board are insisting they will be in no strife at all because payment was NOT made. But can someone confirm for me, didn't we get punished for payments to SOS, Braddles and Fraser Brown for payments there were promised but not actually payed??

If so, then what's good for the goose is good for the gander, so suck shit tigers!!

Bradley, Silvagni unlikely to receive payments

Urged by Collins to come clean, Silvagni and Bradley explained to the AFL how they had been promised under-the-counter payments during their playing careers. While the AFL used the information as part of its case against the Blues, along with the evidence of Stephen O'Rielly, neither of the ex-champions had received any of the promised money.

...there's that word I was looking for, PROMISED!

:)
