what motivated holland?
Had he been thinking about this for a while..?
Maybe getting some legal counsel sorted?

He was possibly stewing on it...
then he thought 'no stuff 'em... i want my dues'.

trying to get a feel for where the guy might be coming from.

ulterior motive?

Thats what i wanna know. I think the Tigers could be in some reall strife especially if Holland has strong evidence.

As dorito pointed out.
If it settles out of court that's an admission of guilt
which means the AFL would have to get involved.
If it goes to court and Holland has a case RFC will have
to answer a myriad of questions. Again, the AFL would need to step in.
The simple fact is that if Holland does have a case it's
gonna get ugly.

IMO Hutchy was right on the money last night when he said the AFL will sit back and let it play out in the courts and decide what to do based on the result of the legal proceedings.

This one will drag out for ages.
But either way you look it at, and however long it takes
the AFL will be in there checking it out if there's
anything underhanded or sinister about it.

IMO Hutchy was right on the money last night when he said the AFL will sit back and let it play out in the courts and decide what to do based on the result of the legal proceedings.

The AFL has launched an investigation into allegations by former Richmond player Ben Holland that he is owed $530,000 by the Tigers.
League boss Andrew Demetriou said football operations manager Adrian Anderson would look into the issue.

This is an untenable situation for the AFL based on what Demetriou has come out and said.

He knew about the deal, told the Tigers not to do it and in the end they have not done it. So the difference between Carlton promising something to SOS and Bradley and not paying it and Richmond promising something to Holland and not paying it is that Demetriou knew about it.

Now this was not a pie in the sky idea by Richmond which they sought advance approval for. They re-signed Holland based on these promises and corrupted the system as a result.

When Carlton were set to be over the cap for 2003 following our penalties, we were warned that if we did not get our TPP down under the cap prior to the official lodgement date, we would again be in breach of the cap and penalised. We then had to implore the players to take pay cuts and they had to agree.

If Holland signed based on an agreement, you can't just not pay it as per AFL advice. The player has to agree to it. If Holland has documentation about extras to add to his 800k contract, the AFL are in no position to tell Richmond to rescind an agreement. As soon as the TPP was to be lodged and any agreement that Holland did not agree to rescind was still expected, then that agreement has to be assessed for eligibility under the cap. The fact that Demetriou told them not to do it means that he judged the income as being eligible under the cap. The fact that the agreement was not rescinded means that Richmond were automatically in breach regardless of what Demetriou knew.

Demetriou knew Carlton were over prior to TPP lodgement too and warned us we would be done again if we did not get it under. This is no different. The players have to agree to forego payments.

The only way this can pan out is:

* Holland has no case
* Holland has a case and the Tigers are in breach
* Holland has a case and the AFL cover it up because Demetriou's dereliction of duty in following it up.

Edit: * I should add in here that Holland might have a case but might be unable to prove it so the Tigers get the benefit of the doubt.

This will all depend on Holland proving that he was owed these extras to make up for a contract shortfall and that he never agreed to forego them prior to the TPP being submitted that year.

How the hell Demetriou did not ensure that Holland had legally agreed to give up these benefits and agree to play for the Tigers for 800k for 3 years instead of playing for the Crows for 1.3mill for 3 years is beyond me. If he knew, he had a responsibility to see it through to the end. No doubt he scrutinised Carlton's contracts and KPP leading into 2003.

We will not hear a full explanation from the AFL on this one either.

finally someone else can cop something....oh no but theres that feeling that were the only ones who get crapped on around here......sigh awaiting cover-up

Nope...

The AFL had a plan for us which I think involved us moving up north somewhere...

That failed and we are going nowhere now.

If all things are equal, the AFL should have been jumping on this as soon as they heard about it. IT doesnt matter what vlad knew, if Holland says that the RFC didnt pay him for it and it wasnt declared as part of the TPP, then the RFC are in breach and deserve to be treated in exactly the same fashion that we got treated.

Also, Vlad admitting that he knew about it and told the tiges not to go ahead with it might put him as the possible receipient of a court case if Holland has a case. He would be guilty of collusion in a case to defraud a player.

I think this whole saga has cemented one thing in my mind.

Richmond will do anything to be like Carlton.

Fevola goes out and urinated, Johnson goes out and urinated. Carlton 'cheat' the salary cap system, Richmond cheat the salary cap system:D.

Tigers winning back to back spoons is the logical progression.

And to think Hutchy actually released a story of interest amazes me.

I have to say if richmond are found guilty they should cop it like we copped it but some of the responses from their supporters just make you feel like your kicking a wounded dog like its down.

If you ever think we're in a mess just think of Richmond fans and never making the finals since the 80's or around then, 1 day on their board and I need a debrief :p

Breaking News
Quarantine Australia has ordered all non members of the RFC board on BigFooty to stay away in case of contamination.

It has been revealed that there could be a serious breakout of foot-in-mouth disease.

Stay tuned for further developments.

Richmond Football Club is an ever worsening disaster beyond repair unfortunately. The only way to fix the problem is to shut the place down, and start again from scratch. The Gold Coast Tigers :)

all those tainted wooden spoons and they even broke salary caps to win them, RFC never cease to amaze:thumbsu:, not to mention they picked Fioara and Tambling oh and actually tried to keep ben holland? Do these guys even know anything about footall?

has anyone heard what Frawley has said about this?

supposedly he was there, though i would doubt he will comment

though he will cop some flack from the guys on the Footy show on sunday

might have to tune in!!

please forgive me if this has been posted

Heard Frawley on Triple M before the bulldogs v saints game tonight....
he stated that he was at an "event" that (i think) happened at Crown with quite a few people there & deals were offered. Frawley himself admitted to podiatry being brought up as well as land offerings. Frawley himself admitted to getting some land for something like 90 odd thousand. When questioned about it being only one block of land, Frawley then laughed & stated it may have been 2. But the "Coach" is not under salary cap.

He was then asked if any players were at this gathering......& Frawley stated that there could have been & there was assistant coaches & officials of RFC there. He would not state what players & suggested for the reporter from the paper who was in the triple m box..... do his job from here & investigate what players

He stated, players were offered land deals & podiatry etc but at no stage in his time coaching the RFC did he believe they were over the salary cap.
(Yet to be proven.......IMO......) LOL

That is all I can remember

Fingers and toes crossed:thumbsu: Can't wait to label them as filthy cheaters that can't even make the finals when they cheat.
Looking forward to reading the comments to come . Stuff the filthy cheating hypocrites !

I think they are in trouble.

Goodbye Natanui,Rich,Hurley.
OOOh lets hope so .

That is until it comes to winning finals . 28 years of misery and more to come . How bad are they going to be when their old boys retire and they have no draft selections and nobody wants to play for them ?

Most clubs are cheating the cap one way or another. Carlton copped it because of the John Elliott factor. What Richmond has done is no different to what everyone else has done and is doing. The AFL though likes to play "Big Brother" and will make them another scapegoat. That's life in this corrupt world.
