Surely people realise that the bulk of the byes that Rad Haddin conceded in The Ashes were as a result of some absolutely woeful bowling by Johnson and Siddle?
Most keepers would've let a hell of a lot past when you had those two bowling very erratically for a lot of the time.

Although Johnson was very, very erratic and Siddle was slightly erratic, if his footwork was up to par, he'd have saved a lot of those byes that he let through.
I can see haddin being used as a specialist batsmen in the shortened form of the game, think Paine would be a much better Test player than Haddin.
and most keepers would have moved their feet a lot more efficiently...
He's got a lot of work to do, he has done for some time but his footwork doesn't seem to improve.

I agree - definitely; his footwork as a keeper isn't as nimble as you'd like; and he seems to shift his balance in a weird fashion, and doesn't really explode laterally from his crouch.
If he was a better keeper, he would've saved a few more of them - but the bowlers were pretty poor and they need to shoulder most of the responsibility for it.
The keeper sets the standard in the field in tests.
Bye Haddin.
Hello Paine.
His glovework is far superior to Haddins ..and his batting is more technically correct ..he would make a great test player..the only area where Haddin has him covered is in the slogging department. .
