Brad Haddins keeping skills are nowhere near as bad as people are making them out to be.

Good To see Paine taking his opportunities.

Surely people realise that the bulk of the byes that Rad Haddin conceded in The Ashes were as a result of some absolutely woeful bowling by Johnson and Siddle?

Most keepers would've let a hell of a lot past when you had those two bowling very erratically for a lot of the time.

and most keepers would have moved their feet a lot more efficiently...

He's got a lot of work to do, he has done for some time but his footwork doesn't seem to improve.

Although Johnson was very, very erratic and Siddle was slightly erratic, if his footwork was up to par, he'd have saved a lot of those byes that he let through.

Haddin has no foot work. He falls over to 'try and take' straight forward chances about two feet either side of him.

If he is lucky enough to catch it, the commentators praise him for a great catch, when in reality he just made an easy catch look tough, because is simply isn't very good.

I can see haddin being used as a specialist batsmen in the shortened form of the game, think Paine would be a much better Test player than Haddin.

I don't know about that, his fielding wouldn't be flash hot which the selectors clearly want since they dropped Jaques cause of it. But even ignoring that his ODI stats don't read well. Hes too inconsistent for mind, he always gets a start and then throws his wicket away without being destructive like say Gilly who would get out with 30 from 15 balls which left out team in good stead.

I agree - definitely; his footwork as a keeper isn't as nimble as you'd like; and he seems to shift his balance in a weird fashion, and doesn't really explode laterally from his crouch.

If he was a better keeper, he would've saved a few more of them - but the bowlers were pretty poor and they need to shoulder most of the responsibility for it.

Yeah, the bowlers were average during the series and it didn't help it.

They've been so much better during the ODI series, although Paine has shown up Haddin with the gloves.

But the bowling has helped him.

Good to see Tim has been picked for the champions Trophy:thumbsu:

As they said last night on the coverage, there's no reason they both cant play in the same side.

Haddin has played as a batsman (and fielder) when Gilly was still in the side and if Watto isn't performing, it's an option that Haddin and Paine could both open the batting.

It probably wont happen since Watto is obviously bowling now.

Haha I love this thread, Go Beef Haddin. He aint got not quarrels on viet kong
