Complete philosophy shift.

Our guys will be much bigger with a focus on stronger cores/hips. REH will get his big arsed players.
There'll be another appointment along these lines also.

Carr directive.
This sounds great.

I don't know a lot about fitness and performance but it is great to see a shift, what they are going for and that Carr is the main push behind it.

It's galling watching our players just collapse at the waist during marking contests. We just can't maintain shape and balance in the contest.

Compare to someone like Ollie Dempsey. Not big but just never, ever loses his feet and is rarely outbodied even against much larger opponents.

That's what I want.
Agreed.

When watching the footy my wife calls me out when I say "Stay on your feet".

Chad even sounds like Kane now.

Interesting chat. Good to hear Tim talk about the focus on strength in the contest and explosive power.

As well as the better preparation for guys who trained at high intensity over the break and the players who have impressed him. Jones, Whitlock, Richards and Mackinlay.

The addition of 100kg of lean muscle mass to the squad is quite mind blowing.

I must admit there were a couple of occasions on Sunday when Jones put the burners on and absolutely blew past a few eagles players like they were standing still. Sadly that wont help him pick up a clean ground ball or mark the simplest of chest marks, but from an explosive athlete perspective you can understand why they persist with him.

Refreshing interview. You can’t expect to win a heavyweight title if you’ve only been conditioned for a lightweight contest.

Not sure what games Ken was overseeing, but he must of missed the parts where we were continually bullied & pressured off the ball.

And then would front press conferences and with a completely straight face say Port Adelaide is all about contested football.

To quote Olivia Rodrigo - How do you lie without flinching?

Absolutely.

I've always seen something in Jones and still believe he will go on to have a very good career here.

The fumbling i put more down to nerves and his overall confidence but we've seen when he is able to string games together that confidence builds and those fumbles become few and far between. The problem has been that every time he has looked to have built his confidence he ends up injured and it's like he has to start all over again.

I still think he is gradually improving but if he can string a season together without getting injured, i see him as a potential top 5-10 player in the team.

Really annoys me when many still don't think he is best 23.

He has a lot of the old school Port Adelaide traits too, he is as tough as they come.
