Time...What is it

just in reference to the big bang,

i am lead to believe that when this phenomanom (sorry about the spelling) occurred the result was that particles began to move, thus expanding the universe. If that is the case then time did not exist before the Big Bang as nothing was moving.............

is that theory absolutley rooted ? i was talking to a mate who didn't really get what i was saying, I thought it was well articulated. oh well.

i can't say i quite follow.
i think you're saying something about why didn't the big bang happen earlier if time existed before-hand.

thinking about it, this kinda is one reason to doubt the big bang theory.

when i think at about stuff like this, it gives me a head ache, because our feeble human minds can't comparhend how long time really has been around for, how it started etc etc. however, national geographic have mad it a little easier with an ad they run. they use a clock(12 hours) to show the entire history of earth, and some people may find it suprising, but if you use this as an example, humans have only been around for 1/1000th of a second (i think thats it could be a hundredth but hey it's still not long). that really isn't that long in the span of things. my theory is that time didn't really begin, until humans started recording it because before then, there was no need/use in keeping track of days, months, years etc, so really time as a concept, started with the dawn of human history, not with the big bang or the start of life or the creation of the earth. how ever when we look back, we use time as a measure of whats going on and how long something has been going.
