For me:

Less than 30 mins = ideal
30 mins- 60 mins = bit of a pain/not ideal
60mins - 2 hours = massive pain/ridiculous
2 hours + = forget it, someone move ffs.

I hate driving.
Agree but there are a few provisos for me as willing to travel further under certain circumstances

Really hot - move up two groups
Good root - move up one group
Rich - move up one group

Seems pretty fair.

Are those numbers subject to change depending on the person though?

I guess. If the feeling is mutual, you would both make more of an effort with distance.

The ex I mentioned before- it was definitely annoying him being 1 hour from me, we only had a relationship on the weekends for the 3.5 years we were together! But I coped okay, am alright with my own company/ am definitely not a clingy type person, so it was fine. Mostly.

Would you guys honestly want to move though? Again, going back to my ex- there is no way in hell I would live where he did. (Pakenham- no offence to people reading this who live there, but god I hated it)- and he loved it where he was/ vice versa. Guess maybe in that situation, you'd eventually compromise and move to a completely new place when you are both ready to live together?

If the person is the one for you there is always a compromise.

When I was 21 and living in Wollongong but working in Sydney, met a chick from Newcastle one night after work.
We tried to make it last but after about 12 months we both realised that the distance was a killer.
This is back in the 1980's.Before Skype, mobiles etc.
Funny thing is, we're now Facebook friends and chat quite often.

You and I have a different idea of the meaning of 'unhealthy'
I was missing him too much and instead of watching the footy and movies it was no time for human emotional interaction and just all sex and sleep

I met my wife when we both lived in Victoria but didn't start dating until I was already living in Townsville. Did a year long distance, seeing each other only a few times before she moved up.

My tenth wedding anniversary is in November.

When you meet the right person, you make it work.
