I don't understand why we are even being mentioned in the same breath as Melbourne. The media over here is defending the MFC and absolutely flogging the AFC. Our punishment should not be in the same ballpark, not the same hemisphere. And quite frankly i would rather lose picks this year when we have Crouch coming in, than Premiership points.

i've read multiple comments around the loss of premiership points. what i dont understabd is why anyone thinks we may be playing for no points for a season.

IMO that is completely over the top. wouldnt the threat be being stripped of 4 or 8 points for next season rather than the lot?

After a match against Fremantle in 2006, St Kilda were stripped of the two premiership points for a draw that they had received.

I'm hoping that when the AFL releases the findings and penalties that they are completely transparent and we supporters are given full details of the emails, etc etc.....

At this stage, i'm having trouble working out why our Club screws itself and then is going to get penalized heavily for doing so too

The thing is we gained an undeserved advantage by offering an illegal deal to a player who may have otherwise left. So if we hadn't made this agreement, we would have been without Tippett for the past three years. Having gained this advantage that arguably would affect our WL column over a period of time we deserve to be whacked with a pretty hefty penalty all things considered.
Just because we screwed ourselves at the closing of the contract, doesn't change the fact that we got what we wanted for the '09-'12 seasons.
