What are you talking about. It reached the indefensible stage for you on day 1.

I think the main point that Jenny and others (including me) were trying to make was that until the "salem trial" process is completed on Friday and actual penalties handed out, we should not be (and could not be) in a position to make a judgement as to what appropriate punishments should be imposed on Trigg and co.
There is a due and somewhat "fair" process to be carried out first so that all the facts and mitigating circumstances, plea bargains etc can be presented to the Commission.
Emma Quayle's latest article has been the best to date giving us a more coherent and chronological order of events, but the AFC's submission hasnt yet been presented nor leaked.

I think that too many posters were willing to give a "death sentence" prior to a court hearing - and even if at the end of that hearing, the court results in the same conclusion, that does not vindicate the correctness of the position held by those posters prior.

Surely, we learnt something from the Rendell fiasco - in that we should allow a due and fair process to be undertaken before handing out punishments.
The thing is though, that the best case scenario (loss of two 2012 picks plus Tippett for nothing) warrants sackings.

There's no need to reserve judgment when things are already this bad.

Legit question - for the protection of the club, should Chapman throw Trigg under the bus?

Probably. We absolutely shouldn't be letting him lead our defense of the matter though.

One new free agent for a basketball team could be a 20% improvement for the overall squad. One new free agent is maybe 5% improvement.

You can;t really compare, because a single basket ball player can influence the game so much more than a single footballer.
Sigh, your missing the point entirely, rather than putting all of our eggs in the draft basket we could look at other ways to develop talent.

And if you can't see the issue there, then you might want to think again. Females in male dominated positions are often judged on their looks and not their abilities by people making comments. Or if someone wants to disagree with a point, the easiest way taken to rebut is not to discuss the points so much but to start talking down someone's looks instead.

For a picture of her to be posted and people to talk about her looks is what I consider a form of misogyny. Just consider how much Caroline Wilson cops because of how she looks and compare that to most other male journalists (Rucci is a special case ;) ).

So, I agree that posting a pic of a journalist is low and there is a long history of why this is especially bad in reference to females.[/

I really object to the reference to mysoginist.

Use sexist if you like. Misogynist is a word that has been hijacked by a floundering, pathetic PM and gleefully adopted by the feminist lobby.

Yep fits rule of cheating ....put everything in writing, including a note not to tell anyone we;re cheating to the only people who could expose us

You just have to laugh at the incompetencies

It certainly sounds like incompetency if we were the ones who didn’t actually delete our emails or shred any written evidence.

Which IMO is why we should have used our draft picks this year, and hoped for maximum of being out of two drafts. This year we didn't attack FA, and our whole trade week was surrounding Tippett (excluding Graham) If we used our picks this year, we could have gone in two the next couple knowing we had no picks and oing very hard at FA/trades.

If our 4 QCs negotiated with the AFL and settled for being excluded for 3 drafts ( this years and the next 2) what does this tell us?

That the club and Trigg are more interested in saving his career than minimising the long term damage us supporters are going to have to endure from being excluded from 3 drafts when it was TRIGG and REID who are fully responsible for this mess we are in.

What a FU**ING disgrace our piss weak club is if this is true!

I would of thought we should say " Here are the culprits, off with their bloody heads but please, only exclude us from 1 draft and give us a hefty fine." But it seems to me we would rather penalise the club to save Trigg.... Why wasn't Rendell shown the same love from the club when he has much more to do with our on field success than Trigg could ever dream of.

I agree with this!

There is so much more yet to play out after tomorrow's penalties are handed down by the Commission.
Who said the off-season was boring?
Most intriguing will be Tippett's penalties - i think that he will end up at Sydney with only a nominal penalty. As someone said on the main board: "Tippett will get hit with a wet lettuce leaf and end up at the Swans as the AFL are scared sh1t of their rules being taken to court. It's why IMO that Tippett dropped his threatened legal action to have Adelaide delist him and done "a deal" with the AFL over punishment and where he'd end up. That way the AFL can avoid having their laws tested in court knowing they would lose.."
Then we still have Blucher and the AFLPA.
The ramifications within the AFC will be i think rather enormous with possibly a new CEO being required, and it appears that there are some factions (perhaps informal) within the AFC.
Whatever happens, i just hope that the Club stops being the "nice guys" and becomes more hard-edged and ruthless in its approach to both the AFL, the SANFL and the SMA.

There's always one.........

I think that once all is settled and done and we have moved on from this, we will look back on it and realise that this is the point where the AFC finally grew up.
Years of playing nice and doing everything the AFL wanted is pointless as they will smash you if they can. Past actions are irrelevant.

We will become a stronger, more hard nosed - screw you type of club.

At least that is my dream!

Why's Rucci a 'special case'? The principle is exactly the same.

That's still a matter of opinion.
If that best case scenario results, i would still retain Trigg but i'm a softie in the circumstances.

We can't possibly be that stupid surely. If that were the case the offender should never work at the AFC again - not even as the boot cleaner!

Just for Nikki Noo's edification, the question was in no way related to the article, or any of her articles for that matter. I haven't even read the article. It was a completely independent question.

Nikki, didn't your profile pic use to be of a topless Crow with an ice vest? Why did you have to use that pic? What did that have to do with his playing ability?

Slippery slope, Nikki Noo.....

Pipe down and take it in the spirit it was intended.

If we do get a jolly rogering from the AFL tomorrow I can see a reserves side up and running very quickly. Would be a great place to trail talent we will need in the following years.

mine too, but I doubt it is going to happen.

a 4 point raise in your primary over a few months is hardly floundering!

fair enough

I'm not a huge fan of EQ, she appears to be a pretty vanilla AFL Journo (except in draft week, which appears to be here forte) but posting images of her or any other journo is a bit low.

even for bigfooty standards.

Because she doesn't have her picture linked to her articles on The Age, or her twitter account??

Her image is part of the public domain, we aren't releasing anything hidden.

Had a chat to someone who should know, email correspondence is damming. Seems to match up with what Emma has written. We are ****ed.

Actually I'm with Slippery Pete on this.

If the media was all about having either looks or ability, how the %$^# do you explain these two?
